The Opportunity

SANY is looking to recruit a driven, forward-thinking and highly-motivated Operations Leader who has worked with previous manufacturers in a proven and effective lean environment. For the right candidate this is a perfect opportunity to grow from a Managers role to an Executive role. This candidate will be responsible for helping to grow SANY America's Assembly from a start-up phase into a full-fledged manufacturing operation. SANY America is advancing its growth trajectory for North America and with deep investment along with the backing of SANY Group, the SANY America business is expecting to grow significantly in the coming years.

We are looking for an individual that has a deep understanding and is a practitioner of Lean manufacturing with proven results. We are looking for someone who is willing to take a hands on approach, not afraid to "go to Gemba", to teach coach and direct versus manage from the office. This role will require a leader who is forward-thinking, who is a visionary, an entrepreneurial attitude and motivated to seize the opportunity to represent and grow a respected global brand in the Americas market.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This role will work directly with the CEO of SANY America to ensure the development and execution of a World Class Manufacturing process.


  • Drive Process Rigour & Accountability - Safety, Quality, Production, Cost, Morale, 5s. Drive a Standard, goal-oriented culture and a visual controlled operations process within the team; develop effective KPIs and structures to help measure, manage and improve the operations
  • Team Development - Develop and grow an effective Operations team. Create an open environment of engagement, and teamwork. A servant leadership attitude. Observe coach and develop the team members to a high level of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Cultural Consciousness - Be aware of attitudes and competency that leads to behaviors that are complimentary and destructive to organizational effectiveness in a lean environment. Ability to step up to complement or correct, as needed.
  • Systems & Technology Leadership - Use Andon Systems, pacing, appropriate visual control, PFEP (Plan for every part) to facilitate Continuous Improvement and On Time delivery. Employs PDCA rigorously and is familiar with an annual plan process
  • Cost Controls - Have an understanding of detailed budgeting and cost controls with experience of monthly reporting
  • Quality Control - Deep appreciation for downstream customers and yielding to Quality to protect our customers and our Brand Reputation. Instill a quality attitude second to none in the manufacturing process thru individual process control and systematic process control
  • On time Delivery - Has an insatiable desire to meet schedule. "Timing is Sacred". Our Brand image is at stake when we do not deliver on time. It is a must that we meet our production schedules. Great just in time lean systems help to perpetuate on time delivery. Looking for a leader who will drive this mentality and set up systems to meet daily production promises to our customers
  • Collaborate - Work closely with other SANY America leaders and colleagues as well as external partners. Help create an open and collaborative dialogue internally that leads to better sharing of ideas, practices and results

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

The Director of Operations needs to be an individual that has worked with re-known organizations known for their lean initiatives. Has progressively grown in the organization thru different functions to gain a good understanding of how the total enterprise works and is interdependent on one another. This individual should ideally be at a current mid-level position with demonstrated high potential for advancement. This individual will need relevant manufacturing experience in low volume high variability products. He/she will bring vision, can do attitude, energy and creativity to the organization with a natural ability to engage people at all levels externally and internally.


The ideal candidate will:

  • Help to set the vision for the assembly and future manufacturing state.

  • Understand the importance of setting standards, setting visual controls in place that immediately identity normal or abnormal situations. Has experience in creating Standardized work and is driven to ensure the organization follows the standards that have been set

  • Set relevant KPI's that drive the business toward continuous improvement. Have experience in taking an analytical approach to collecting and assessing data to guide the organization toward faster resolution. More Facts Driven than opinion driven

  • Have prominent Problem-solving skills at a level equal to one who can teach these skills to others. Understands the 5 whys and can drill down to a Root-Cause that generates countermeasure that are lasting

  • Have great communication skills both written and spoken. This role will require department meetings where the Director of Operations will be the one who speaks to the team to keep everyone well informed. Thoughts and speaking points should be well thought out and articulated. Likewise, it will be required to conduct some strategic planning and annual planning, including monthly progress that need to be charted and communicated with the leadership team.

  • Have good project management skills. The uncandid ability to manage several projects at one time while making forward progress, utilizing the organizational structures strength to accomplish more with less

  • Has an understanding for PFEP and Quality systems

  • Demonstrate thought leadership - Continue to outpace the competition, staying ahead of the curve and setting the path forward for success

  • Be an experienced hand on Manufacturing leader that has a minimum of 12 years working in a lean organization. A plus would be someone who had the opportunity to be part of a cultural change event or has worked in more than one company where they were responsible for the change

EDUCATION

The successful candidate ideally will have an undergraduate degree in business, management, manufacturing management, operations management or a related discipline. An MBA or an advanced degree is preferred.

Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience. It will include a base salary, an annual performance bonus, and other exceptional benefits.
