Position: Director of Operations - Manufacturing

Location: Dayton, Ohio


A leading manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to oversee their operation. This strategic role calls for a technically skilled leader with a strong background in design engineering and manufacturing operations, capable of driving performance, optimizing processes, and leading cross-functional teams toward continued growth and excellence.


The Director of Operations will be responsible for end-to-end oversight of operational activities, ensuring effective collaboration across departments to meet customer expectations and deliver high-quality solutions on time and within budget.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to executive leadership, monitor financial performance, and manage budgets to optimize profitability.
  • Lead all aspects of operations, including engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and quality, in collaboration with supporting departments such as HR, IT, and commercial teams.
  • Partner with HR to define job roles, establish performance objectives, recruit talent, and support employee training and development initiatives.
  • Develop and implement solutions to address client needs across design, manufacturing, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
  • Identify inefficiencies and lead process improvements to boost operational effectiveness and scalability.
  • Manage and monitor large-scale projects through data-driven performance evaluation and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in business, supply chain, or industrial management preferred; candidates with a bachelor's degree and substantial relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 8 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably involving metal fabrication processes (e.g., design, welding, assembly, testing).
  • Deep understanding of MRP systems, including implementation and system launch.
  • Proven experience in production scheduling, resource planning, and team coordination.
  • Working knowledge of design and manufacturing principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; CAD proficiency (e.g., Catia, NX) is a plus.
