Job Title: Director of Operations Home Health CareLocation: Houston, TXReports To: OwnerPosition Summary:We are seeking a highly capable and strategic Director of Operations to lead and optimize day-to-day operations at our Home Health Care agency. This role is critical to ensuring clinical and administrative alignment, billing accuracy, regulatory compliance, and scalable growth. The ideal candidate will bring a sophisticated understanding of the home health industry, with a strong command of revenue cycle management, EMR systems (e.g., WellSky, Axxess), and Medicare/Medicaid regulations. The Director will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure operational excellence, financial discipline, and scalable growth.Key Responsibilities: Operational LeadershipDirect daily operations across clinical, administrative, and back-office functions to ensure quality, compliance, and efficiency.Develop and enforce SOPs to standardize scheduling, admissions, care coordination, documentation, and patient services.Monitor key performance indicators, including visit volume, missed visits, patient census, staff productivity, and compliance. Financial OversightManage and monitor agency cash flow, vendor payments, and expense tracking.Coordinate with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely disbursement of vendor and payroll obligations.Participate in weekly/ monthly financial reviews to assess trends in revenue, costs, and margins.Support the CFO or Controller in developing and reviewing budgets and financial projections. Revenue Cycle & Billing OversightOversee end-to-end billing operations and ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer requirements. Reduce claim denials and optimize collections by ensuring complete and compliant documentation (OASIS, POC, Visit Notes).Utilize EMR platforms (e.g., WellSky) to audit documentation, ensure visit verification, and confirm billing readiness. Reporting & ComplianceDevelop and manage performance dashboards (census, utilization, visits, productivity, financials).Ensure compliance with all CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, and state-specific home health regulations.Prepare for and lead internal audits and payer reviews. Team ManagementSupervise clinical managers, schedulers, QA, billing staff, and administrative teams.Identify skill gaps and provide training or recruitment strategies to build a stronger operations team.Create a high-accountability culture with clear KPIs and performance evaluations. Strategic Growth & Business OptimizationIdentify inefficiencies and implement systems or automations to streamline operations.Collaborate with leadership on census growth strategies and territory expansion.Analyze patient care trends, staffing patterns, and financial performance for decision-making.Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or related field (MBA or MHA preferred).Minimum 5 years in a leadership role within a home health agency.Strong understanding of home health billing, coding (HHRG/HIPPS), and OASIS documentation.Familiarity with EMR platforms (WellSky, Axxess, Homecare Homebase, etc.).Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex operations.Data-driven, process-oriented, and deeply familiar with compliance frameworks.Preferred Traits:Proactive, highly organized, and solutions-focused.Ability to train and elevate team members.Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.Strong written and verbal communication skills.
