Job Summary:
The Director of Nursing Services for Women's and Children's Services is responsible for the strategic direction, leadership, and management of nursing operations within the Women's and Children's departments. This role encompasses overseeing patient care delivery, nursing staff management, quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The director will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance the quality of care, promote patient safety, and support the overall mission of the healthcare organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
- Provide strategic leadership for nursing services in the Women's and Children's departments, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and professional development among nursing staff.
- Recruit, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff, ensuring they possess the necessary skills and competencies.
Clinical Quality and Patient Care:
- Ensure high standards of nursing care are maintained and continuously improved within the Women's and Children's departments.
- Implement evidence-based practices and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and safety.
- Monitor and evaluate nursing care delivery, utilizing metrics and patient feedback to drive improvements.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as accreditation standards related to nursing practice.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices and changes in regulations affecting women's and children's health services.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with physicians, allied health professionals, and administrative staff to develop and implement patient-centered care models.
- Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, administration, and other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination of care.
Budget and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage the nursing budget for Women's and Children's Services, ensuring optimal use of resources.
- Oversee supply chain management, staffing levels, and other operational aspects to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Education and Professional Development:
- Promote ongoing education and training for nursing staff in areas related to women's and children's health.
- Encourage and support staff participation in professional organizations and conferences.
Community Engagement:
- Engage with community stakeholders to promote awareness and access to Women's and Children's health services.
- Develop outreach programs and partnerships to enhance community health and wellness.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration required, or obtained within three years of hire.
- Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive nursing leadership experience, with a focus on Women's and Children's Services.
- Proven track record in quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
Skills:
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
