Job Summary The Director of Nursing (DON) directs the operations of the Department of Nursing, Atrium Health Floyd School of Health Sciences.Responsibilities Is responsible to understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies.
ACCREDITATION Serves as the designated nurse administrator as defined by the Georgia Board of Nursing and accreditation agency
Assumes authority and responsibility for the administration, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing education program(s) to ensure compliance with USG, SACSCOC, Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), Georgia Board of Nursing (GBON) guidelines, rules, and regulations
Directs ongoing accreditation activities to ensure continual adherence to standards
Prepares recurring and special reports for the GBON, ACEN, USG, and other agencies as required
ADMINISTRATIVEMaintains stewardship of department statistics and historical data as required by USG, accreditation agencies, and regulatory bodies
Collaborates with Dean of Health Sciences to develop and administer the nursing budget
INTERNAL/EXTERNAL AFFAIRS Chairs the Nursing Advisory Board
Represents GHC and the department at meetings, conferences, and seminars within the county, state, and university system
Collaborates with the Dean of Health Sciences to obtain support and resources for the nursing department
Recruits, screens, hires and mentors the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) and direct report staff
Recruits students for all nursing programs
Collaborates closely with clinical partners to ensure objectives of the program are met
Manages all grant responsibilities as the point of contact and all pre and post award activities
Supports the process toward resolution of complaints and grievances from students, parents, and other interested parties
Serves on college committees as assigned
OTHER Instructs six (6) credit hours for the academic year as assigned
Meets common expectations of the faculty
Performs other duties as assigned by Dean of Health Sciences
Required Qualifications
Graduate degree in nursing and doctoral prepared
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a master s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field
Administrative experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience
Un-encumbered license as registered nurse and eligible to practice in Georgia
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
