JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for executive oversight of the Village Care Center's nursing and related clinical services. Provides effective leadership and management of risk management, quality, safety and compliance programs and initiatives that achieve measurable results to prevent and mitigate loss to the organization. Supportive of the Village's mission, values, and service/hospitality (PRIDE) expectations. Completes training as required by policy.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Ensures that all of the skilled nursing and sub-acute care residents of the VCC receive care that meets the regulatory standards as established through CMS published Quality Indicator data, DHSS regulations, CARF-CCRS accreditation and/or the VCC internal CQI/QM system. This includes providing clinical rounds and observations of direct care practices, providing staff education regarding effective nursing care practices and soliciting feedback, input regarding care services provided and analyzing "systems" based trends of VCC internal CQI/QM quality indicators and CMS standardized indicators.
Collaborates with Human Resources to sustain an effective program for recruitment, retention and recognition of nursing and clinical services staff.
Ensures high quality resident and family member satisfaction by attending Resident & Family Member Council meetings, soliciting feedback regarding Nursing & clinical services care delivery and meeting all newly admitted residents and legal surrogates/family members.
Responsible for developing departmental budgets and adhering to such by increasing revenue and maintaining costs.
Supports VCC's marketing activities by providing strategic planning input when requested from JKV Sales/Marketing and Strategic Planning functions and creating innovative Nursing and clinical care services to meet identified market niches for skilled nursing and sub-acute care services.
Keeps abreast of industry trends through scholarly literature review and conference attendance and incorporating the information into VCC Nursing & clinical care services.
Provides effective leadership and management of quality, safety, risk management and compliance programs and initiatives that achieve measurable results to prevent and mitigate loss to the organization.
Adheres to all safety regulations and requirements.
Handles stress well and gets along with others within the workplace and with customers outside the department.
Maintains acceptable standards of workplace conduct.
The responsibilities described above represent the primary responsibilities of the job. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as warranted by business needs. The incumbent is expected to perform all assigned responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
This job requires a combination of education, training and experience that is acquired through the completion of an accredited School of Nursing. BSN preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
Registered Nurse in the state of Missouri is required or hold a multi-state license from any other nurse licensure compact state that allow you to practice in the state of Missouri.
ACLS Instructor certification is required.
Geriatric Nurse Specialist Certification is preferred.
A valid driver's license is required.
Knowledge and Skills (required unless otherwise noted):
Advanced keyboarding skills.
Intermediate level experience in Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel.
Beginner level experience in industry-related clinical database management software.
Experience with automated HIM electronic fully integrated virtual medical record/clinical management system is preferred.

Wound prevention and wound healing
Respiratory care (including maintenance of lower respiratory ventilation)
Fall and injury prevention
Restorative nursing services innovation
Dining program innovation
RUGs reimbursement and clinical management utilization
MDS 2.0 assessment and documentation skills

DHSS and CMS regulatory compliance
LTC risk management practices
Basic knowledge base of Resident Centered Care/Pioneering Care/Edenizing care models.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, speeches and articles that conform to prescribed style and format.
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Experience:
One year experience of Director of Nursing in a 100+ bed skilled nursing facility is required.
A minimum of 1 year experience as a CQI/Quality Management Director is preferred.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is primarily done in an environmentally controlled nursing care facility with occasional exposure to body fluids, needles and chemicals.
Personal protective equipment is available and required.
All associates may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.
