General Overview
The Director of International Recruitment leads the strategic planning and execution of all international student recruitment initiatives at the University of Silicon Valley. This role involves identifying, recruiting, and onboarding international agencies, monitoring their performance, and implementing strategies to increase enrollment from global markets. The DIR plays a key role in securing new students, developing relationships with partner institutions, and expanding the University's presence in emerging markets to meet undergraduate (graduate?) international enrollment goals.
Until the international program is mature, the DIR will spend a material portion of his/her time recruiting domestic students.
Description of Work
The DIR provides strategic leadership for all international recruitment and enrollment efforts, ensuring alignment with the University's overall enrollment objectives. Responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing campus-wide strategies to attract and enroll international students.
- Overseeing a team (future state) responsible for planning and implementing international recruitment efforts.
- Identifying new strategic initiatives in international recruitment and admission to enhance the University's global presence.
- Creating and executing comprehensive strategic plans to drive enrollment growth.
- Managing all aspects of the international recruitment and admission team, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in operations.
- Collaborating with University leadership to review and refine policies and processes for international applications managed through the centralized Admissions Operations unit.
The DIR will establish strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external partners, including agencies and educational institutions, to increase awareness of the University of Silicon Valley worldwide. While the primary focus is international enrollment, the DIR also contributes to broader undergraduate enrollment initiatives, ensuring a seamless integration of international recruitment efforts into the University's overall enrollment strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic planning for international student recruitment, setting clear goals and performance benchmarks.
- Manage partnerships with international recruitment agencies, ensuring alignment with the University's enrollment goals.
- Develop and implement strategies to engage prospective students and partner schools in key and emerging markets.
- Oversee recruitment activities, including participation in global fairs and events, ensuring alignment with key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Assess existing recruitment channels, develop new markets, and evaluate sustainability and return on investment.
- Identify risks affecting international recruitment targets and implement mitigation strategies.
- Supervise the international recruitment team, ensuring professional development and high performance.
- Collaborate with admissions and enrollment teams to streamline application review processes for international students.
- Monitor and analyze data to optimize recruitment strategies and inform decision-making.
Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in communications, higher education administration, business, international affairs, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing student recruitment, admissions, or enrollment management in higher education.
- At least 10 years of management experience in recruitment, admissions, or enrollment.
- Expertise in international recruitment, including knowledge of global education systems, key recruitment markets, and visa processes.
- Proven ability to operate at a strategic level, providing leadership based on data-driven insights.
- Excellent communication, public speaking, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing circumstances using data, technology, and input from stakeholders.
- Experience in developing reports, managing budgets, and supervising staff.
- Ability to connect with individuals of all age groups, academic backgrounds, and cultural identities.
