Job Summary: The Director of Internal Communications position at the American Bath Group is a high-impact, creative, content development role. A company with over 5000 employees and formed through over twenty mergers and acquisitions since 2016, the American Bath Group possesses tremendous opportunity to generate continued alignment through strategic information sharing. This role will focus on the planning and execution of internal communications that will equip our workforce with the tools and information they need to be informed, perform, and advance their careers. Company news, resources, events, spotlights, and other topics will be communicated through multimodal methods including company e-newsletters, video streaming, intranet posts, and Teams messages. The Director of Internal Communications will be responsible for both strategy and content development, as well as partnering with appropriate stakeholders to develop and execute internal communications. The role will also be responsible for managing and executing all requests for internal communications projects such as internal marketing campaigns. The Director of Internal Communications will manage a 2D/3D artist that will be exclusively assigned to internal communication, creating greater efficiencies in execution. The focus will initially center on the sustainment of existing internal communications projects and project requests. When continuity is assured, the role will expand into new content development.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Execution
- Develop and implement internal communication strategies aligned with organizational goals, values, and change initiatives.
Content Development
- Oversee the creation of engaging and informative content for internal platforms (e.g., company newsletters, town halls, intranet, executive messages).
Project Management
- Manage and execute internal communications project requests.
Branding and Tone
- Ensure consistent branding and tone throughout all internal communications.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to provide branding solutions to existing internal communications.
Leadership Communication
- Support senior executives in crafting and delivering key messages, including speeches, presentations, and internal announcements (e.g., Quarterly News Event with CEO)
Change Management
- Collaborate with ELT, HR, and IT, and to manage communication during organizational changes, mergers, transformations, and crises.
Channel Management
- Manage internal communication tools and channels (email, intranet, Teams)
Measurement & Reporting
- Monitor communication effectiveness through surveys, analytics, and feedback mechanisms; adjust strategies as needed.
Personnel Management
- Manage performance of 2D/3D graphic designer by
- Assigning / balancing workload and priorities
- Setting clear and effective performance goals aligned with the department's objectives.
- Monitoring personnel performance through KPIs
- Addressing underperformance swiftly through one-on-one discussions
- Conducting regular performance feedback and formal reviews.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in corporate communications, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong writing, editing, interviewing, and presentation skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- AI literacy
- Proven experience managing internal communications for a large or complex organization.
- Ability to influence and partner with senior leadership.
- Experience with internal communications platforms and measurement tools.
Work Environment: Hybrid if located nearly an ABG office, or remote if not located near an ABG office.
Salary: $109,000 (annual)
