Director of Housing
- Location: San Francisco, CA
- Status: Full-Time / Exempt
- Schedule: Monday through Friday 9 AM - 5 PM - Onsite
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Management
- Responsible for the overall operational performance of the organization's property portfolio.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant rules, regulations, and laws. Adhere to procurement policies.
- Coordinate and strategize future projects to expand the property portfolio.
- Manage and develop annual budgets.
- Ensure alignment of property performance with budgets.
- Foster a collaborative partnership with Resident Services Leadership.
- Identify and implement strategies for ongoing operational improvements.
Day-to-Day Operations
- Develop and implement policies on building operations and maintenance.
- Monitor occupancy, rent collection, and cost control to ensure financial stability.
- Ensure all buildings are clean, well-maintained, and follow preventative maintenance schedules.
- Ensure safety procedures are followed and working conditions are safe.
- Manage resident relationships and address issues regarding property management services.
- Support the development of leasing and marketing plans for each property.
- Foster collaboration between property management staff and resident services staff.
- Manage subsidized units for residents.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare regular reports in accordance with protocols and requirements.
- Participate in the development of annual property operating budgets.
- Ensure timely collection and entry of monthly rents.
- Monitor and approve expenses for each property.
- Reconcile rent ledger and operating expenses.
- Review outstanding accounts receivable issues.
Staff Management and Development
- Recruit, hire, supervise, motivate, and develop the property management team.
- Create a work environment that fosters teamwork and a mission-driven atmosphere.
- Oversee employee performance reviews and provide ongoing support and feedback.
- Provide strong leadership, clear direction, and ensure accountability within the department.
- Experience working within a unionized organization is preferred.
Collaboration with Staff
- Ensure alignment of program outcomes and property management operations with the Leadership Team.
- Collaborate with Finance, Occupancy and Compliance, and Asset Management to meet deliverables and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with Resident Services Department at site and agency levels.
- Support the Real Estate Development team in funding applications and project conceptualization.
- Participate in industry events, advocacy, or fundraising activities as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Qualifications
- BS or BA degree in business administration or related field.
- Minimum eight years' experience in property management, including supportive housing, affordable housing, and non-profit management.
- Ability to develop budgets and review financial statements.
- Strong computer skills, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and property management software.
- High level of organization and ability to complete complex tasks with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated leadership ability as a member of senior management.
