Job Details Job Location: West Oakland Health Center - Oakland, CA Salary Range: $146,000.00 - $150,000.00 Salary Description Position Title: Director of Gynecology and Reproductive Health Department: Gynecology and Reproductive Health Reports to: Chief Medical Officer FLSA Classification: Exempt Compensation: $146,000.00 - $150,000.00/annually Schedule: Part-Time; 0.4 FTE Background: In the midst of the Black Power and Civil Rights movements, four Black mothers saw a need in West Oakland and delivered. From their love and commitment Baywell Health started out as The West Oakland Health Council. We quickly became the neighborhood's anchor for healthcare, health education, food and housing programs, and voter registration. Legacy of Love Video: Healthcare Rooted in West Oakland Job Summary: Under the general supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, the Director of Gynecology and Reproductive Health is responsible for the overall leadership and management of our organizations' women's health programs and services. This includes overseeing the clinical operations of the department, developing and implementing new programs, and ensuring that the department meets the needs of our patients. The Director will develop relationships with key stakeholders, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers while also providing care to Baywell Health patients. Duties/Responsibilities: Responsible for ensuring that patients receive high-quality care, that staff are well-trained and supported, and that our women's health programs and services operate efficiently and effectively. Responsible for fiscal oversight of the department and ensuring fidelity to the department budget. Oversee the clinical operations of the women's health department, including patient care, quality assurance, and risk management. Develop and implement new programs and services to meet the needs of our patients. Ensure that the women's health department meets the standards of accreditation and regulatory agencies. Develop relationships with key stakeholders, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers. Represent the women's health department at various meetings and events. Stay current on the latest trends and developments in women's health and specifically Black women's health. Provide comprehensive medical care to women, including prenatal care, childbirth, and postpartum care. Diagnose and treat various women's health conditions, including reproductive disorders, sexually transmitted infections, and cancer. Perform surgery, including deliveries, hysterectomies, and other gynecological procedures. Educate patients about women's health issues and provide preventive care. Work with other healthcare providers, such as nurses and midwives, to coordinate patient care. Stay current on the latest medical advances in women's health. Performs other related duties as assigned. May be assigned cross departmental responsibilities. Required Skills/Abilities: Commitment to providing high-quality patient care generally, and Black women specifically. Commitment to providing quality care to the Black community. Ability to travel across Oakland and the San Francisco Bay Area, including offsite visits. Strong clinical and administrative skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Must possess a valid driver's license. Education and Experience: MD or DO degree with board certification in obstetrics and gynecology. Minimum of 10 years of experience in a leadership role in women's health. Mental and Physical Requirements: The pace of Work: High stress, very rapid, and demanding Concentration: Constant Standing and Walking Time Required: At least 20% of the time Sitting and typing: 60% - 70% Environmental and Health Hazards: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions common to a clinic environment. The employee must frequently use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone keyboard and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally bend, lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. May be required to work in an environment with high noise levels and unpredictable temperature and ventilation.
