Caravel Autism Health is seeking a high performing and driven Director of Financial Planning & Analysis for our Finance team in advancing our mission to expand access to autism therapy. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis will play a crucial role in powering financial performance by providing actionable insights and in long-term growth goals by driving analytical rigor. This role requires a leader with strong experience in multi-site healthcare organizations, a deep understanding of financial & billing analytics, clinical operations, and lender reporting and compliance. The Director will partner with executive leadership, oversee budgeting and forecasting processes, and enhance data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities: Strategic Financial Planning- Lead the annual budgeting process and rolling quarterly forecasts.
- Develop a dynamic, long-term financial model that marries operational performance, cash flow, capital expenditures, debt, and covenants to support strategic growth initiatives.
- Direct and support the preparation of the operating and capital budgets. Monitor performance against budget and work closely with the VP of Development and Corporate Development Manager to achieve targets and enhance capital expenditure reporting.
- Provide actionable insights to executive leadership by identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
Financial Analysis and Reporting- Oversee monthly and quarterly financial performance reporting to all stakeholders, including internal financial and operational reporting packages, private equity sponsor reporting and adjusted EBITDA calculations, and lender compliance certificates.
- Deliver concise, accurate, and impactful financial presentations to the executive team and prepare analysis and written commentary and explanations for Board presentations.
- Expand 4-wall EBITDA analytics and reporting to provide recommendations to improve profitability and efficiency, including margins by provider type, and provider-mix and reimbursement rate optimization.
Credit Agreement and Compliance Management- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of covenant calculations and compliance certificates.
- Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to manage credit agreement reporting requirements, maintain compliance, and capitalize allowable adjustments to achieve the most opportunistic terms.
Team Leadership- Manage and develop a high-performing FP&A team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture.
- Mentor team members to enhance their technical skills, business acumen, and career development.
Collaboration and Business Partnership- Partner with department leaders to provide financial guidance and ad hoc analyses/models, to support their operational goals.
- Work closely with the Revenue Cycle Management team to enhance analytics and reporting.
- Support decision-making on workforce with forecasts and modeling that supports new hire, promotion and headcount budgeting and approvals.
- Collaborate on cross-functional initiatives to improve processes and support company growth.
Process Improvement and Tools- Lead the implementation of new reporting technology by supporting the team through the learning process and mastery of the application, developing and creating initial reports in partnership with the CFO, and continuously enhancing and optimizing reporting capabilities.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline FP&A activities and enhance efficiency.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity across financial systems and reports.
Qualifications:- Education:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field preferred.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in Finance, including leadership roles.
- Proven success in high-growth multi-site healthcare organizations with a strong understanding of clinical operations KPIs, billing & collections, and payer data.
- Demonstrated expertise in credit agreements, and lender compliance reporting and calculations.
- Private equity experience is preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and 4-wall performance analysis.
- Proficient in financial systems and tools (e.g., Excel, Sequel, Jet Reports or similar reporting technology, ERP systems, EHR/PM systems).
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI is preferred.
- Soft Skills:
- Highly analytical with a strategic mindset and attention to detail.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities. Experience building high-performing teams through coaching and/or top grading.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
Caravel Pay Details - $152,000 to $175,000
- Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
