Job Title: Director of Finance and Accounting
Position Overview
The Director of Finance and Accounting is a key strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing Irwin's overall financial health, shaping financial strategy, and ensuring compliance with external regulations and internal controls. This role partners closely with senior leadership to drive financial performance, support the company's transformation into a globalized enterprise, and assist with risk management efforts. Responsibilities
- Provide counsel to leadership on financial strategy, forecasting, and performance, aligned with Irwin's growth goals and transformation into a global enterprise.
- Partner with senior leaders to drive strategic decision-making through financial analysis, scenario planning, and long-range forecasting.
- Serve as a key contributor to cross-functional transformation efforts, including global expansion, system integration, and business model evolution.
- In collaboration with Operational Finance, prepare and review annual budgets, forecasts, and performance dashboards.
- Develop and maintain reporting frameworks that provide actionable insight into business performance and operational efficiency.
- Oversee cash flow forecasting, capital planning, and working capital optimization.
- Direct all accounting operations, ensuring timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes.
- Manage the external financial statement audit process and maintain relationships with outside accounting partners.
- Guide the organization's compliance with financial, regulatory, and audit requirements.
- Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure business continuity and fiscal integrity.
- Oversee treasury management activities, including maintaining positive relationships with lenders and financial institutions.
- Support financial integration of new international operations and manage the financial implications of cross-border commerce.
- Provide financial oversight for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic investments.
- Participate in global tax strategy development in collaboration with internal and external partners (as needed).
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team, fostering continuous improvement, accountability, and innovation.
- Mentor team members through Irwin's business transformation and support talent development for future leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification required, MBA is a plus.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 10 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience with global operations.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Proven experience managing complex financial operations and driving process improvements.
- Strong proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems (eg, Infor Cloud Suite, PLEX, Salesforce CRM, Microsoft Power BI).
- Previous experience with an ERP implementation.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with a proven track record of developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
