Position Summary
The Director of Events at Diablo Country Club is responsible for the planning, coordination, and successful execution of all member-facing and private events. This role requires strong cross-department collaboration, an eye for detail, and a service-driven mindset to elevate member satisfaction and engagement. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and grounded in both hospitality standards and financial accountability.

Work Performed
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Events Department, ensuring all event setups, décor, and service standards consistently reflect the Club's elevated aesthetic and member expectations.
- In collaboration with the Executive Team, develops and manages a comprehensive annual events calendar that integrates seamlessly with Club programming, dining priorities, and seasonal engagement strategies.
- Leads the execution of all Club-sponsored events, as well as private member-hosted events such as weddings, celebrations, and corporate gatherings.
- Designs and implements detailed pre-event planning processes including walk-throughs, logistics checklists, and department pre-briefs to ensure clarity and consistency across all touchpoints.
- Prepares all Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and manages event billing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full coordination across Culinary, Service, Facilities, and Accounting teams.
- Collaborates closely with the Executive Chef to design rotating seasonal menus, bespoke pairings, and chef-led experiences that elevate event offerings and align with food cost goals.
- Maintains and continuously updates member-facing materials including event packets, booking forms, and promotional collateral to ensure they reflect Diablo's current offerings and standards.
- Serves as the events content liaison to the team, providing copy, imagery, and logistics for use in eblasts, newsletters, the Club app, and internal announcements.
- Develops and enforces SOPs for all event types, training staff accordingly and regularly revising standards based on feedback and industry trends.
- Maintains a visible and proactive presence during high-profile events, orchestrating behind-the-scenes logistics and ensuring smooth execution with a hospitality-first mindset.
- Conducts post-event evaluations with staff leads and surveys key members to assess satisfaction, identify improvement opportunities, and capture feedback for future planning.
- Tracks and reports monthly event performance metrics including participation, cost efficiency, per-person spend, profitability, and satisfaction
- Builds strong relationships with members and their families, learning preferences, capturing feedback, and applying a personalized approach to both social and private event planning.
- Actively collaborates with Membership, Fitness, Golf, and Youth departments to create integrated programming that supports retention, member onboarding, and seasonal activation.
- Supports the team with strategic projects, participates in weekly leadership briefings, contributes to annual budgeting and forecasting, and plays a key role in advancing overall member experience goals.
- Manages and mentors the Events Assistant and event-day team, fostering a professional, high-performing, and guest-centric culture through regular coaching and service reviews.
Minimum Requirements for Position:
- A bachelor's degree in hospitality, Event Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in private clubs or luxury hospitality with direct oversight of high-touch events and F&B integration.
- Demonstrated leadership in team management, communication, and service culture.
- Proficiency with event software, POS systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and comfortable working in a dynamic, member-facing environment.
Physical Requirements
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event demands.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and be on your feet for extended periods during events.
