The Raleigh House is a leading behavioral healthcare provider dedicated to holistic, trauma-informed care. Our experiential Equine Therapy Program is an essential part of our therapeutic model, supporting clients with trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders. With a dedicated ranch and a carefully selected herd of 8 horses, we provide transformative healing experiences for individuals in our inpatient programs.

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly organized Director of Equine Services to lead our equine therapy program and manage all aspects of horse care and stable operations.

The Director of Equine Services will oversee the strategic, clinical, and operational leadership of the Equine Program. This includes facilitating or supporting equine-assisted therapy sessions, managing equine staff, overseeing herd health, maintaining the barn, and ensuring the program aligns with our clinical objectives and values.

This role requires someone with a deep love for both people and horses-someone who understands the emotional power of equine therapy, while also bringing professional-level knowledge of horse management, safety, and facility coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

Equine Therapy & Program Development

  • Lead and support equine-assisted therapy sessions in partnership with clinical staff
  • Develop and evolve the equine therapy curriculum to align with therapeutic goals
  • Train and mentor equine staff in trauma-informed equine interactions
  • Ensure all equine activities meet industry standards for safety, ethics, and therapeutic integrity
  • Deliver clinical documentation that aligns with industry standards and regulations
  • Work closely with the clinical team to deliver programming that ties seamlessly into RH programming and philosophy

Equine & Barn Operations

  • Oversee daily care, training, and wellness of the horses
  • Manage stable operations, equipment, feeding, farrier scheduling, and veterinary care
  • Collaborate with Ranch team on maintenance of pastures, arenas, and oversee barn operations
  • Maintain safety protocols and documentation for horses, clients, and staff

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Supervise equine specialists and ranch staff
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to integrate equine therapy into client treatment plans
  • Manage program budget, procurement, and inventory of equine-related supplies
  • Represent the equine program in community outreach, partnerships, and marketing efforts
  • Attend weekly interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure continuity of care and delivery of services

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in equine-assisted therapy or equine program leadership
  • Licensed to practice as a clinician in the state of CO, preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of horse care, training, and facility operations
  • Prior experience working with individuals with mental health or trauma histories
  • Certification in equine therapy or equine-assisted psychotherapy strongly preferred (e.g., EAGALA, PATH, Natural Lifemanship, or similar)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and administrative skills
  • Passion and creativity to build the most innovative and impactful equine program in Denver
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, collaborative, and mission-driven environment

Salary Range : $75,000 - $120,000 annual (dependent on experience and licensure).
