We are seeking an entrepreneurial and highly skilled Director of E-Commerce to build and manage our multibrand dropship marketplace catalog. This role requires deep experience in marketplace operations, product catalog architecture, and merchandising. You will lead the development of a scalable catalog infrastructure that supports real-time product data feeds, and merchandising that's compatible with our AI-design engine. You will have full ownership of the catalog strategy and execution-balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a fast-paced startup environment.

Role Overview

As the Director of E-Commerce at InHouse, you will build and manage the backbone of our marketplace catalog, ensuring that millions of products from hundreds of brand partners are accurately integrated and merchandised to deliver a seamless resident shopping experience. You will work closely with product, engineering, and design teams to create a scalable catalog infrastructure that supports real-time availability, dynamic pricing, and AI-generated product recommendations. This is a highly tactical role that requires both strategic leadership and hands-on execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and Manage a Multibrand Marketplace Catalog. Develop and oversee a comprehensive product catalog with products from a diverse set of brand partners. Ensure product data is structured to support dynamic merchandising.
  • Integrations. Serve as the business lead for a diverse set of brand partner integrations types to enable real-time product updates, pricing changes, and inventory management. Create scalable processes to onboard new suppliers and product categories efficiently.
  • Design and Implement Metadata Frameworks. Develop and maintain a structured metadata strategy to support automated product bundling, product search, and AI-generated recommendations. Ensure that product data is organized and optimized for scalability.
  • Drive Automated Merchandising and Personalization. Develop strategies for dynamic product suggestions, real-time inventory visibility, and personalized design recommendations within the platform's rendering interface.
  • Optimize for Conversion and Customer Experience. Analyze catalog performance data to refine product curation, search functionality, and user experience. Continuously improve catalog organization and product discovery.
  • Establish Scalable Operational Processes. Build efficient catalog operations that can scale as the product assortment and brand partnerships grow. Develop automation and process improvements to streamline catalog updates and product launches.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration. Partner with product, engineering, and design teams to align catalog strategy with the broader business roadmap. Ensure catalog data and merchandising capabilities support a premium resident experience.

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of experience in e-commerce, with a strong focus on marketplace operations.
  • Expertise in product catalog architecture, metadata frameworks, and automated merchandising.
  • Experience managing API integrations and working closely with engineering teams to automate catalog operations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret performance data and refine catalog strategies to improve conversion and customer satisfaction.
  • Proven ability to operate independently and drive results in a fast-paced, resource-constrained startup environment.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach-you are comfortable setting the strategy and rolling up your sleeves to execute it.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce platforms and catalog management tools.
  • Experience in home furnishings, design, or lifestyle products is strongly preferred.
  • Excited to collaborate in person daily at our Soho, NYC office.
