General Description: This position is responsible for collaborating with the Executive Director of Communications in overseeing the planning, development, and execution of the College's marketing, branding, advertising, and customer service initiatives.

Minimum Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or related field

Minimum (5) years' experience in public relations, marketing, or communications, including coordinating web production, electronic marketing, and communication strategies and tactics. Experience should include staff supervisory experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge:
Knowledge of and experience with technology-related to marketing and public relations.

Values collaboration and enjoy working with others.

Experience in designing and implementing marketing plans and brand/image enhancement strategies.

Budget/resource planning and management experience.

Skills:
Advanced journalistic writing and editing skills

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Competence with Social Media platforms

Abilities:

Ability and confidence in marketing functions including research, planning, implementation, and evaluation

Physical Demands/Working Conditions: PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work is medium work which requires the person in this position to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist; this factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.

Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.

Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.

Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.

Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position; this factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.

Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities in which one must convey detailed or important spoken information or instructions to others.

Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction; ability to receive detailed information through oral communication; and make fine discrimination in sounds.

Visual Acuity: Requires visual acuity to perform activities such as but not limited to: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes; and/or determine the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or make general observations of facilities or structures

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.

Work is performed during normal office hours plus works required evening and weekend hours.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field.

Public Relations work experience at an institution of higher education.

Required Training: Quarterly compliance training as assigned by institution

Work Hours: 8:00 to 5:00pm Monday through Friday.

Evenings and weekends as required.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement): Provide supportive and visionary leadership among the College's staff, maintaining an environment of innovation and collaboration with a focus on improving the exposure and brand awareness of the College.

In collaboration with the Executive Director, promote a supportive and positive work environment.

Assist the Executive Director in developing and maintaining an effective department through hiring and evaluating personnel, and by providing leadership, management, development, direction, and motivation to personnel in the Department of Marketing and Public Relations and Printing Services.

Provide/coordinate staff training and professional development, counsel employees to correct deficiencies in performance, and implement disciplinary and termination procedures if necessary.

Assist employees in Marketing and Public Relations with process development and process management.

Develop standards, policies, and procedures for Marketing and Public Relations.

Monitor workflow, work products, results, methods, and procedures of the Department of Marketing and Public Relations.

Operate professionally and confidentially.

Help ensure departmental efficiency, and establish cost-effective resource utilization for Marketing and Public Relations.

Provide marketing, public relations, and communications counsel to all College departments and divisions.

Develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate strategic plans including marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, and crisis communication plans.

As needed, coordinate and supervise the generation of external publicity through news releases, feature articles, public service announcements, advertising, media contacts, etc. to increase exposure and brand awareness for the College.

Work directly with the Executive Director and Executive Leadership for customer and employee services including crisis handling and mitigation.

As needed, work directly with the Campus Police Department to design, develop, execute, and maintain the college's crisis and emergency communications plans.

Prepare and present various reports and other necessary correspondence.

Prepare and administer the advertising, publications, and marketing budgets.

Serve on various College-wide committees and task forces to provide marketing, public relations, and communications counsel and develop plans, strategies, and tactics to meet the particular needs of the committee or task force.

Research, write, and edit copy for College projects, presentations, and communications.

Proof all work, submitted by College personnel, for publication and/or release electronically or by any other means.

Work directly with the Director and Executive Leadership to develop marketing and partnership strategies.

Participate in various community and civic activities contributing to the positive image of the College.

Coordinate and participate in activities and events that promote the various programs and services of the College.

As requested, and at the direction of the Director, represent the College and/or the President, Provost, and Executive Vice President at community meetings and functions, and civic, educational, and conferences.

Backup to the Executive Director in providing advice to the President, Provost, and Executive Vice President on significant matters.

Perform other duties as assigned.
