Mountain Lake Academy is a specialized school dedicated to empowering students with disabilities in grades 7-12 through a structured, therapeutic, and adventure-based learning environment. Our programs incorporate outdoor activities such as hiking, climbing, biking, and canoeing to help students build resilience, confidence, and essential life skills.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Director of Clinical Services to lead our therapeutic programs and ensure the highest quality of care for our students. The ideal candidate is a licensed clinical therapist ( LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, or equivalent ) with a strong background in trauma-informed care and evidence-based interventions in a residential school setting. This role provides clinical leadership, supervises a team of therapists and case managers, and ensures compliance with all mental health regulations.

Key Responsibilities
Provide clinical leadership and oversee all therapeutic services at Mountain Lake Academy.
Supervise and support a team of clinical therapists and case managers.
Provide clinical supervision to staff, including overseeing supervision hours for licensure when applicable.
Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans to align with students' educational and behavioral goals.
Provide evidence-based therapy , including treatment planning and implementation.
Conduct clinical assessments and provide direct therapeutic services as needed.
Ensure compliance with state and federal mental health regulations and documentation standards.
Oversee Independent Education Plan (IEP) counseling and complete related service reports.
Support direct care personnel and collaborate with educational and residential staff to integrate clinical interventions into daily student life.
Maintain professional communication with internal and external resources.
Ensure all training, licensure, certifications, and medical requirements remain current per regulations and agency policies.

Qualifications
Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field .
Active clinical licensure ( LCSW or LMHC ) in New York State or eligibility for licensure.
5+ years of experience in clinical services, preferably in a residential, school-based, or therapeutic setting .
3+ years of leadership experience managing clinical teams.
Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care, behavioral interventions, and adolescent mental health .
Experience working with students with disabilities or special needs (preferred).
Excellent communication, leadership, and crisis management skills.
Physical ability to navigate stairs, uneven terrain, and participate in crisis intervention techniques as needed.
Successful completion of a background check as per New York State Justice Center and OCFS regulations
A valid New York State driver's license.
