Job Summary

This position directs the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) including supporting faculty in instructional design, educational development, pedagogy and technology development, faculty career and success, learning management system administration which support the initiatives for the College.

Responsibilities
    Is responsible to understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies
    Provides leadership and management for the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL)
    Develops and implements a vision, mission, strategic plan, and goals for the CETL which align with and support the goals of the college
    Administers, manages, and facilitates projects, programs, and operations related to the CETL and integrates them into teaching and learning operations
    Conducts, on an annual basis, a needs analysis regarding faculty development and institutional initiatives; reviews, assesses, and evaluates programs offered by the CETL
    Chairs and actively engages with the D2L advisory group that represents various constituents at the college
    Manages the CETL budget and explores creative ways to increase funding through proposals, grants, and partnerships
    Oversees marketing and communication campaign to build support and awareness for CETL initiatives
    Collaborates with the Provost, Academic Deans, Division Chairs, faculty, staff, D2L advisory group, ITS, and other college constituents to develop resources and activities supporting college initiatives as well as providing purposeful and meaningful faculty development
    Researches and maintains expertise regarding the trends in pedagogical and andragogical principles used in both traditional and technology-enhanced higher education contexts
    Promotes research informed innovations and excellence in teaching to support high impact learning and other noted pedagogical practices which support the initiatives of the college and system
    Participates in a wide variety of committee work at departmental and college level, including the annual in-service and employee recognition.
    Designs and facilitates New Faculty Academy for first and second year new full-time faculty
    Designs and facilitates new faculty orientations for full and part-time faculty
    Consults with faculty and Academic Affairs administration regarding promotion and tenure review
    Guides faculty on effective research-based practices in instructional design, pedagogy, and technology by providing related one-on-one support, consultations, and workshops
    Assists faculty to enhance teaching, explore a teaching innovation, or improve student learning
    Consults with faculty to analyze classroom practices, assess teaching and learning needs of courses, and share evidence-based approaches in course design, instruction, and assessment
    Represents the college at various functions both at the state and national levels
    Serves as USG CTL-Consortium and USG RACDE (Distance Education) representative
    Provides leadership and management of the LMS as the primary D2L administrator
    Addresses and resolves technology tickets related to the LMS
    Attends weekly USG meetings pertaining to LMS administration
    Design and facilitate online learning faculty development
    Oversees the development and process of online course review and certification including accessibility, and regular and substantive interaction (DoE regulation)
    Performs, implements, and supports technology integrations in the LMS such as Simple Syllabus and third-party publisher materials
    Collect and solicit student faculty data from the LMS when required by Academic Affairs
    Maintains GHC CETL and GHC Online websites
    Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
    Master s degree in a course of study related to the occupation (doctorate preferred)
    Minimum three (3) years of experience in the field of faculty development, educational development, organizational development, or leadership development
    Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience
    Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver s license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    Knowledge of University System of Georgia and Georgia Highlands College policies and procedures
    Knowledge LEAP, High Impact Educational Practices, and other USG initiative-driven practices
    Knowledge of pedagogical practices and educational technologies
    Knowledge of group and individual educational development strategies
    Knowledge of effective formative and summative evaluation and assessment techniques
    Knowledge of course design, development, and implementation strategies
    Knowledge of institutional budgeting
    Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs
    Knowledge of the scholarship of teaching and learning and/or assisting others in SoTL work
    Knowledge of learning management systems (e.g. Desire to Learn, Blackboard, Canvas)
    Knowledge of best practices in online learning curriculum development and instruction
    Knowledge of state and national online learning standards
    Skill in pedagogy in a variety of learning environments and modalities
    Skill in communicating and relationship building with both full- and part-time faculty and staff
    Skill in the completion of required reports
    Skill in oral and written communication
    Ability to understand the policies of the University System of Georgia
    Ability to understand the policies and procedures of GHC
