Business Development Director Space Sector - Remote U.S. - Sensing Systems ️
A cutting-edge engineering and technology firm with decades of heritage in advanced motion and sensing systems is hiring a Business Development Director to lead expansion across the space market. This individual will work closely with technical and operational teams to bring highly engineered subsystems to a diverse range of government and commercial space programs. Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, target, and secure new opportunities across the LEO, MEO, and GEO mission spectrum
- Partner with engineering teams to align client needs with technical capability
- Drive full-cycle sales of high-complexity components and subsystems into aerospace platforms
- Expand relationships with major primes, integrators, and innovative new space players
- Shape and execute strategic sales plans to meet aggressive growth goals
- Track opportunities and engagement via Salesforce and internal sales tools
- Attend industry events, conferences, and client meetings to represent the business and open new doors
- Contribute to commercial planning and market positioning initiatives
Key Requirements:
- Strong commercial background in the space sector with established client relationships
- Knowledge of electromechanical space systems including laser communication terminals, reaction wheel assemblies, solar screen deployment, weather imaging payloads, science & exploration systems, and missile tracking.
- Experience navigating complex, long-cycle sales into engineering-led buying environments
- History of winning new business with major defense or space customers
- Able to work independently while collaborating across functions
- Flexibility for regular domestic travel
- Based in the US, ideally near a major transport hub
- Adaptable and comfortable in fast-evolving, change-driven business environments
