Director of Application Development
Kamis is searching for a Director of Application Development to fill a full-time position in Columbia, MD. This is full-time/permanent position and the salary range is currently approved in the 150-175K range plus benefits. This position includes regularwork onsite so we are only considering candidates in the immediate Columbia, MD area.
The Director of Application Development will:
- Drive the evolution of a technologyplatform by spearheading application development while ensuring quality and security.
- Work with the CIO to build and expand a dynamic team.
- Lead innovation by incorporating AI/ML, microservices, and DevOps strategies to elevate our platform.
- Collaborate closely with executives, product owners, and various IT teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the design, development, and optimization of customer-facing applications using .NET, React, Node.js, ExtJS, SQL, and Azure.
- Improve and modernize technology on an ongoing basis.
- Shape and execute an AI-driven innovation strategy to improve automation, pricing intelligence, and analytics.
- Ensure adherence to best practices in code quality, security, and performance while driving CI/CD.
- Directly manage a team of software developers (up to 10 direct reports) and scale the organization over time.
- Foster a high-performance culture that values innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Champion Agile development methodologies to optimize project execution and delivery speed.
- Establish data-driven metrics to measure development efficiency, product quality, and system performance.
- Ensure steady-state production support for mission-critical applications, maintaining scalability, stability, and security.
- Continuously evaluate and integrate emerging best practices to maintain a competitive edge.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of leadership & people management experience, building and mentoring high-performing development teams.
- 5+ years of hands-on software development & delivery experience, leading teams from ideation to production.
- Proven ability to build and maintain customer-facing web applications with 200+ daily active users.
- Extensive experience with microservices architecture, DevOps, AI/ML integration, and cloud-based platforms.
- Strong background in code security, software quality, and production system stability.
- Experience using data-driven metrics to manage and optimize development processes.
