Job Summary The director of Accreditation and Assessment fosters a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and accountability by leading, coordinating, and supporting institutional and programmatic accreditation activities. Works with UWG SACSCOC liaison, faculty, and committee representatives to support accreditation and coordinate related activities. This individual collaborates with the Office of IEA to ensure delivering appropriate data and data analytics in support of institutional and program accreditation, quality enhancement initiatives, and program improvement. This person will also be responsible for creating and deepening a culture of assessment throughout the campus by leading a comprehensive institutional assessment plan to support the University's mission and strategic initiatives and will provide expertise and assistance to constituents across campus in developing and implementing effective assessment plans and instruments. The position is responsible for overseeing institution-wide assessment activities (e.g., academic programs assessment, general education assessment, academic and student services assessment, and comprehensive program review). The Director of Accreditation and Assessment works broadly with University leadership, college leadership, faculty, and non-academic divisions and serves on division, university, and system committees as assigned.

Responsibilities Lead and coordinate institutional accreditation activities and follow-up actions, and maintain a documentation filing system, including but not limited to SACSCOC reports, data, and communications. Ensure compliance with accreditation requirements is incorporated into the planning, assessment, and evaluation processes and documentation of the institution. Inform and advise constituents across the university on SACSCOC policies, procedures, and requirements and serve as a reliable resource for the university and its community on accreditation topics

Coordinate and ensure completion of SACSCOC annual profiles and any other reports requested by the Commission. Oversee/advise the preparation of prospectuses, prepare letters and cover pages for submission, and keep a record of substantive change communications, reports, submissions, notifications, and approvals. Monitor SACSCOC revisions to standards, policies, and procedures and ensure UWG's compliance with revised requirements

Support programmatic accreditation by reviewing reports and providing university-level information for faculty and administrators as appropriate. Oversee university-wide assessment activities and annual reporting, including academic program assessment, general education assessment, and academic and student services assessment. Maintain the Strategic Planning process, including UWG Blueprints and Annual Reporting practices.

Supervise the completion of comprehensive program reviews for UWG degree programs to ensure the university's compliance with accreditation and the University System of Georgia s requirements. Review submissions in Curriculog for compliance with accreditation requirements. Develop and deliver effective workshops on accreditation issues and assessment techniques for academic and support departments, assessment data analysis and use, rubric development and use, and prior learning assessment to include portfolio assessment. Develop skills in using Xitracs, the Assessment and Accreditation program used by IEA.

Required Qualifications Educational Requirements
Master's degree

Required Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in institutional accreditation, evaluation, assessment, and institutional effectiveness with one to two years of experience in higher education. Experience in data management and research methods related to assessment best practices. Demonstrated experience managing and leading accreditation and assessment activities at the institutional, departmental, and/or program levels. Proven effective project planning and effective managerial skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral Degree. Technological proficiency with statistical packages and Microsoft Excel. A deep understanding of policies and processes associated with institutional accreditation and assessment and familiarity with USG policies and procedures. Recent experience with SACSCOC accreditation and reporting is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of institutional accreditation (e.g., SACSCOC) standards, policies, and procedures, specifically, experience with organizing, writing, and submitting reaffirmation and substantive change reports. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with excellent written, verbal, and nonverbal communication skills.
