Location: Washington D.C

Office Schedule: 2x week

Salary: $90 - $100k

Requirements

  1. Batchelor's Degree in a business related field
  2. 5+ years of experience focused on Financial Statement/GL Accounting, ideally out of Non-Profit Experience in key finance and accounting functions including payroll accounting, fixed assets, investments, leases, general ledger maintenance, budgeting, financial analysis, and strategic business decision support
  3. Advanced Excel

This position has responsibility for the maintenance of SOI's general ledger select accounts and related activities in support of the production of financial statements and management performance reports.

Responsibilities
  1. Ensure consistency in application of intercompany and regional accounting policies, practices and underlying controls
  2. Oversee the intercompany balances and prepare eliminating entries
  3. Review journal entries and accounting treatment of leases, fixed assets, investments, and payroll accounting
  4. Provide leadership over the process of allocating salary in the financial system and for budgetary purposes
  5. Maintain process documentation for all key processes performed by accounting and finance staff and update on a regular basis
  6. Review account reconciliations and analyses as directed (bank, subsidiary, general ledger, fixed assets, prepaids, etc.); review journal entries and review accounting classifications in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
  7. Review and manage the work of the Manager, Payroll Accounting and Senior Accounting Manager; provide training and oversee growth and performance
  8. Assist in the analysis and preparation of reports to be utilized in SOI's financial statements
  9. Prepare annual cost allocations and monthly direct support cost allocations
  10. Facilitate the day-to-day communication with department regarding audit requests and sample uploads; review documents prepared for interim and annual audit
  11. Performance and external event cost accounting - Create, circulate and maintain monthly list of known performances and external events requiring settlements to theater managers, production staff, and grant cognizant approvers
  12. Payroll integrations/personnel cost accounting
  13. Maintain accounting activity codes, structures and reports; perform routine maintenance of general ledger accounts (including activity account categories and codes)
  14. Month-/Year-end accounting tasks - create various year-end allocation journal entries; calculate and enter year-end accruals; perform numerous asset and liability account reconciliations, including payroll, benefits, and garnishments; and prepare general ledger journals where and when necessary.
  15. Review of open purchase orders
  16. May review the work performed by and provide training to general accountants. Support preparation for and participate in annual financial statement audit and other regulatory audits, gathering documents, providing reports, completing analysis, and answering questions during field work; assist with preparation of the annual Form 990 and the Department of Education Indirect Cost Rate project; work on ad hoc reports and projects assigned
