Director of Accounting
We are seeking an experienced Director of Accounting to lead the accounting operations for a prominent master-planned community in the Fort Myers area. The ideal candidate will be a licensed CPA with a strong background in real estate development accounting, including construction accounting, GAAP compliance, and budgeting/forecasting. This individual will oversee accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, job costing, and monthly close processes.
- Lead the development and management of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP.
- Manage construction accounting processes, including tracking of development costs, draws, and capitalization.
- Work cross-functionally with development, operations, and executive teams to support financial decision-making.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff; provide leadership and ensure adherence to best practices.
- Develop and implement internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals as needed.
Requirements
- CPA license required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Master's a plus).
- Minimum 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting/forecasting, and real estate accounting.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience with Yardi, MRI, or other real estate accounting platforms.
