The Director of Movement Disorders & Stroke Research will develop and lead a research program focusing on pediatric neurological movement disorders, stroke, cerebral palsy, dystonia, and neurodegenerative diseases. Responsibilities include designing and conducting independent or collaborative research on topics such as kinesiology, rehabilitation, brain plasticity, neuromodulation, gait analysis, sensory training, robotics, and artificial intelligence. The role involves preparing and submitting grant proposals to funding sources like the National Institute of Neurological Disorders & Stroke, the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy & Developmental Medicine, and others. The Director will supervise a team of trainees and research assistants conducting advanced research studies. This includes overseeing project design, initiation, execution, analysis, and publication of research findings, both retrospective and prospective. The position is initially for one year with the possibility of renewal based on productivity and funding.

Qualifications:

  1. Doctorate (MD, PhD) in a biomedical discipline aligned with the department's focus, medical and/or surgical specialty.
  2. Five or more years of relevant research experience in basic, clinical, and/or translational science.
  3. Proven ability to secure and manage intramural and extramural funding (eg, grants, endowments).
  4. Multiple publications as senior author demonstrating impactful scientific results in peer-reviewed medical and/or scientific journals.
