Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a Manufacturing Operations Director for our Buffalo, New York site . The position located in Buffalo and will focus on all facets of operations.

The Buffalo Operations Director reports to the Navigation, Targeting, and Survivability (NT&S) vice president of manufacturing, and has direct responsibility for manufacturing (MFG), and indirect responsibility for global supply chain (GSC), and quality mission assurance (QMA) organizational performance at the Buffalo site. This position is the primary interface to the Amherst Systems Operating Unit as part of the Electronic Warfare and Targeting (EWT) Business Unit and coordinates closely with programs to meet operational cost, schedule, and performance requirements across operations.

The Buffalo Operations Director will provide leadership, management and strategy to integrate MFG, GSC, and QMA as a cohesive operations organization supporting the Buffalo site and NT&S division. The director leads the organization in support of the Annual Operating Plan and Long-Range Strategic Plan, and provides leadership and guidance for technical execution, process development, continuous improvement, safety, producibility, capacity and production planning, MTA/Capital/Facility planning, cost/benefit analysis, financial planning and execution, manpower planning and staffing, talent development, workforce engagement, and merit planning. The director is also responsible for supporting the division business area vice presidents, as required to ensure the division's goals are met.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or related technical field with a minimum of 12 years of experience. (Non-technical degree may be considered if coupled with extensive, related technical experience and expertise in the required engineering disciplines.)

  • Must have prior leadership skills and the ability to work effectively across organizational layers from individual contributor through executive leadership

  • Must have communication and presentation skills, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task in a dynamic leadership environment utilizing an Integrated Product Team (IPT) approach.

  • US Citizenship required and ability to obtain government security clearance

  • Must have Manufacturing Leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or Supply Chain Management

  • 5+ years of experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager

  • Experience with ISO9001/AS9100

  • Self-motivated and proactive, organized, and detail oriented.

  • Demonstrated Agile and/or Six Sigma tools (ex. Scrum Master, Green Belt, Black Belt)

  • Demonstrated basic understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools such as SAP and Materials Requirement Planning (MRP).

  • Experience with proposals, contracts, intercompany work orders, earned value management, risk and opportunity management, and integrated master schedule processes.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic and high visibility environment.

  • Working knowledge of financial management including project & process control and budgets, to include familiarity with DCAA and FAR regulations.

  • Experience working across multiple disciplines (programs, mission assurance, global supply chain, subcontract management, design, manufacturing, test engineering, facilities, and safety) with a focus on product development and producibility.

  • Minimum current active interim US Secret level security clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.

Salary Range: $157,500 - $236,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
