Kindle Energy LLC ("Kindle") specializes in the management, optimization, and development of power generation in the United States and Canada and is a portfolio company of Blackstone Group Inc. Blackstone is a leading global alternative asset manager with $1 trillion of total assets under management. Currently, Kindle manages 8.7 GW of generation in Ohio, Indiana, Texas, and Louisiana, with a 700 MW CCGT project under construction in Louisiana and a simple cycle Combustion Turbine project under construction in Colorado.
Kindle is currently recruiting for the role of Director Insurance. This position will report to the Vice President Business Planning and will be based in our Princeton, NJ office with a travel requirement of >25% in the domestic United States.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of risk management strategies and the placement of insurance for Kindle Energy and for facilities Kindle Energy manages, including those under development and construction
- Lead and manage relationships with the Kindle Energy's insurance brokers and insurers to place, renew, maintain, and consolidate insurance policies aligning with the company's optimization strategy
- Project manage insurance related requests for renewal applications, underwriting information, audits, certificates of insurance, contract reviews, auto id cards, etc.
- Oversee coordination of insurance related loss control and engineering, including scheduling of site visits and review and closure of loss control recommendations
- Oversee and determine the strategies for the management of claims, including property damage claims and third-party liability claims
- Support marketing efforts for major policy placements as needed
- Lead approval processes for insurance programs
- Provide inputs to key company efforts including budgets, board meetings, and management reporting
- Coordinate across a diverse organization including with operations, commercial, legal, and accounting teams to support pursuit of critical business initiatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, engineering, finance, economics or related field, and MBA or equivalent degree preferred
- Five plus (5+) years of experience in the insurance industry with a strong preference for direct experience in the energy insurance sector
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex business initiatives
- Charted Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated computer competency
