Overview of the Role:
The position of director (or pastor) of worship ministry (hereafter referred to as the "director") is a part-time or full-time salaried position at Grace Redeemer Church. Title of Director or Pastor will be in accordance with whether the candidate is ordainable in the PCA denomination as a pastor.
The director's primary responsibility involves leadership/oversight of the worship services (particularly musical elements); management of staff (e.g. Assistant Director, A/V Technical Director, and Worship Operations Assistant); allocation of budgeted resources; and equipping and developing music team
members in leading congregational worship. Other responsibilities include supporting worship at other church functions/ministries such as youth group meetings, mission conferences, etc. The director will report to the Senior Pastor. Hours and full-time/part-time status will be commensurate with the
candidate's experience, skillset and scope of responsibilities/workload.
Qualifications:
- Candidate must be a committed follower of Jesus Christ, in agreement with the heart of biblical Christianity (as defined by the PCA's Statement of Faith).
- Candidate should have a well-conceived theology of worship which entails appropriate knowledge of Scriptural application in the worship context.
- Candidate must have a strong music background, with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a church or ministry setting, in order to select, revise, and arrange musical pieces with emphasis on styles with contemporary worship instrumentation.
- Candidate should demonstrate sufficient vocal and/or instrumental musical gifts to lead a team of professional and volunteer members.
- Candidate should have a strong appreciation for worship music , both modern and traditional, such that (s)he can contextualize them in GRC's gospel-centered culture
- Experience with Planning Center Online and Finale software is preferred
- Candidate should have a strong desire to develop and shepherd team members towards spiritual maturity and musical excellence. Evidence of this shepherd's heart can be demonstrated through personal references, ministry/ work experiences, and/or other life experiences that could apply (e.g. discipleship).
