Job Summary Provides direction and leadership for educational residential community, programs, and facilities. Develops and implements strategies to advance the University's strategic plan, sets departmental goals, monitors progress, and reports outcomes. Responsible for staff supervision, day-to-day budget management, assessment, and overall housing program administration.
Responsibilities 1. Management -
Directs the day-to-day management, maintenance, and administration of the university's housing and residential life office. Supervise, develop, and evaluate professional staff. Provide for the supervision of the student staff, assigning their duties and developing an orientation and training program to foster their success. Develop annual goals for the operation, evaluate outcomes, recommend improvement of services and programs, and prepare reports. Oversee housing contract cycle, including contract development, marketing, processing of applications, approving waivers, room assignments, reviewing cancellations, maintaining rooms, etc.
2. Facilities -
Recommend and assist in planning new construction and proper maintenance, renovation, and improvement of present residence hall facilities. Coordinate campus housing for conferences, camps, and outside groups that utilize residence hall facilities. Work closely with the Residential Facilities Management team to identify and respond to immediate maintenance needs and provide input to plans for deferred maintenance and capital requests.
3. Residential Engagement -
Focus on building community through social, developmental, and educational programming and provide the necessary guidance and assistance to obtain these ends. Enhance current student engagement initiatives and efforts. Collaborate with faculty and staff to elevate the student residential living experience. Ensure alignment of programs with strategic priorities and tenets of college belonging.
4. Risk Management -
Develop effective guidelines, policies, and processes to ensure the health, safety, security, and welfare of students. Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, standards, and laws. Lead efforts to educate residents on the code of conduct and campus expectations in partnership with the Office of Community Standards, University Police Department, and Legal Affairs and hold residents accountable for adhering to the code of conduct. Recommend policies governing the residence hall program and provide for communications and interpretation of policies to the staff. Assist in responding to emergencies that arise from time to time on campus. Serve on the Campus Awareness Response and Evaluation Team. Develops the annual budget for the Department of Housing and Residence Life in partnership with the Offices of the Vice President of Student Affairs and Business and Finance. Monitor expenditures of funds for residence life and facilities. Partner with Foundation and Facilities teams to create budgets, procure contracts, and reconcile expenses for capital improvement projects. Collaborate with institutional leadership to advance strategic priorities and housing activities. Serve on campus-wide working groups as needed. Required Experience
Master's Degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or related field Minimum of five years of experience managing and operating a housing community of 1500 residents or more; developing co-curricular programs and/or living/learning communities to promote student success, and retention; creating and managing comprehensive budgets; experience managing crises; demonstrated experience with facilities, including managing major building projects and day-to-day operations; demonstrated progressively supervisory responsible experience of professional and student staff; working knowledge of resident and property management platform (i.e., Starrez).
Office Environment - Work normally performed in a typical interior work environment.

Seven years of leadership experience in a university residential life/housing program or related field; proficiency in Starrez and Microsoft Office programs. Experience managing public-private partnership properties and budgets.
Proposed Salary $90,000.00 - $93,000.00 Annually. Paid on a Monthly Basis.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities KNOWLEDGE
Understanding how to create and manage complex budgets to achieve desired results; establishing proforma statements and setting yearly budgets; monitoring and managing departmental expenses against the established budget; knowledgeable of resident and property management platform' preferably Starrez; knowledgeable of strategies to foster student success. Consequences of Error: Responsible for managing program budget; hiring, training, and developing student assistants; consequences of error result in litigation, reputational risk, and financial issues for departments and organizations.
