Director, Engineering Utility Operations


What you will do

Lets do this. Lets change the world. In this vital role you will be onsite daily, coordinating operations and ensuring the smooth functioning of all systems. This is a high-impact role that demands a hands-on approach and a commitment to excellence. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, compliant, effective, and efficient operations of our facilities and utilities. The successful candidate will also be responsible for delivering on Amgens sustainability goals and maintaining the overall upkeep and reliability of utility equipment.

  • Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Facilities and Engineering team, ensuring alignment with Amgens mission and objectives.

  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all utilities operations align with regulatory standards and maintain the highest safety protocols.

  • Operational Efficiency: Optimize the performance of utility systems to deliver reliable and efficient services.

  • Sustainability: Drive initiatives that support Amgens sustainability goals, including reducing energy consumption and minimizing environmental impact.

  • Facility Upkeep: Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all facilities to ensure operational readiness and reliability.

  • Equipment Reliability: Ensure the reliability and longevity of utility equipment through effective maintenance and proactive management.

  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the budget for utilities operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource optimization.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, stakeholders, and external partners to ensure the seamless integration of utilities operations into broader organizational initiatives.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of Utilities operations, Facilities management, or a related technical discipline experience

Or

Masters degree and 8 years of Utilities operations, Facilities management, or a related technical discipline experience

Or

Bachelors degree and 10 years of Utilities operations, Facilities management, or a related technical discipline experience


In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have at least 4 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters or Bachelors degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.

  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing large teams and complex operations.

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and safety protocols related to utilities operations.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on sustainability goals and implement environmentally friendly practices.

  • Excellent project management skills with experience in overseeing large-scale projects.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with diverse teams and collaborators.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions under pressure.

  • Experience in budget management and financial planning.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
