Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Equity Officer, the Equity, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion(EEDI) Director Business Lead will develop and deploy the EEDI educational and development strategy in support of the highest prioritized needs of the business. The EEDI Director, Business Lead serves a critical role with the intent to build inclusive leadership, teams, and diversity at AbbVie. This involves designing and delivering the strategy, development solutions and journeys that raise the performance of leaders and strengthen culture. This role will also support the strategy design and implementation of programs and projects to deliver expected business outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Drive strategy development, implementation approaches and progress to deliver our EEDI priorities.
  • Design, develop and communicate an innovative EEDI Enterprise Education Strategy to build inclusive leaders, key talent and employees, enhancing their ability to deliver expected business outcomes.
  • Assess, improve and redeploy existing enterprise EEDI educational curriculum to provide impactful inclusive development solutions, differentiated by client populations, people leaders, key talent and employees.
  • Design, develop or acquire new EEDI educational resources to provide impactful inclusive development solutions, differentiated by client populations, people leaders, key talent and employees.
  • Engage and manage vendors to design and deliver best in class EEDI educational materials and experiences. This may include resources, workshops, cohort learning, enterprise solutions, etc.
  • Consult with EEDI functional leads, BHR and functional stakeholders to scale and deliver enterprise and leadership solutions, messaging and narrative related to inclusive leader, key talent and employee development.
  • Embed EEDI education within existing AbbVie frameworks and systems, as well as developing an operating model for sustainability of EEDI education.
    • Ensure that EEDI education is globally applicable.
      Research best practices in diversity initiatives
      Translate external and internal trends into innovative, pioneering and creative practices.
  • Partner with other Centers of Excellence to proactively contribute to the creation, development and roll-out of global programming to meet current and future state EEDI functional needs.
    Develop EEDI Education team members to develop EEDI practitioner acumen, through consulting, design and implementation skills.
  • Lead as an ambassador of the EEDI organization representing the services, support and resources available to the business and help manage the global reputation of the AbbVie organization as a whole.

Hybrid Work Model- 3 day onsite/2 days remote

Role will be based in Lake County, IL

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree or EEDI Certification preferred.
  • 10 years+ of experience in diversity, equity and inclusion.
    5 years+ experience managing teams
    12 years + HR/legal/compliance experience managing sensitive data
  • Broad multi-stakeholder experience.
    Experience working in mid-to-large global and matrix organizations in a complex work environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
    Proven track record of leading and implementing large-scale programs and projects.
  • High organization and detail orientation with a successful track record of executing initiatives from start to finish
  • Ability to influence people without direct authority to achieve solutions.
    Effectively use data to tell a story or create a narrative for change.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills plus interpersonal and presentation skills to drive results.

  • Acts with authority in decision-making situations and takes on decision-making roles amidst uncertainty when necessary
