DEFINITION

The person in this position will direct and coordinate the early childhood center as Basalt Elementary. The Director must ensure an environment that promotes social-emotional, physical, behavioral, and cognitive development using developmentally appropriate practices in support of the goals and objectives of the program while maintaining all State and local regulations and school district requirements.

Year-round Position (252 work days) includes running summer ECE program.

SUPERVISION

Receives direct supervision from the ECE Instructional Facilitator.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Associate degree in Early Childhood Education

Early Childhood Large Center Director Certification

Master's Degree preferred in Early Childhood Special Education or a related field.

Early Childhood Special Education Licensure preferred.

Bilingual (English - Spanish) preferred

PRIMARY DUTIES -

The following are examples of primary duties assigned to the Early Childhood Program Director. Other related primary duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
  • Maintain and oversee a clean, sanitary, organized, developmentally appropriate, positive, and creative early childhood program.
  • Ensure all State and local health, safety, funding, and quality programming rules and guidelines are maintained.
  • Follow all district and school rules and complete all paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Possess good customer service skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and situations effectively.

    Provide for careful and effective supervision of individual and groups of children, on and off campus, in accordance with District established policies and procedures and Colorado's Office of Early Childhood Child Care Licensing Rules.
  • Implement the RFSD High Quality Inclusion Framework across all classrooms.
  • Select, train, and provide direct supervision to Early Childhood Teachers and Assistants.
  • Regularly monitor staff performance and provide coaching and mentoring for performance improvement and professional development. Deliver day-to-day leadership and work with staff to ensure high performance, and to promote positive employee relations.
  • Coordinate with school staff and building administrators regarding program needs.
  • Work cooperatively with the Early Childhood Instructional Facilitator and all service providers.
  • Manage the Teaching Strategies GOLD assessment accounts for all program children. Assure that the data is used to monitor student progress and guide lesson design and classroom activities to support children in meeting the Colorado Early Learning Developmental Guidelines (ELDG).
  • Support and monitor the quality implementation of the Creative Curriculum and the selected behavior guidance program center-wide.
  • Coordinate, in conjunction with the Early Childhood Department, enrollment, registration, and tuition arrangements for all program children. Develop and implement strategies to recruit and maintain enrollment. Be responsible for timely tuition deposits and billing.
  • Create an inviting atmosphere for families by being welcoming, friendly, supportive to their needs, and inviting them to participate in their child's education and in supporting the center.
  • Maintain personnel and student records in accordance with the State and local child care and health and safety rules and the District's guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain the program's budget.
  • Communicate professionally with parents, teachers, and district staff.
  • Maintain a Large Center Director credential level and an up-to-date Professional Development Information System (PDIS) account.
  • Assure all staff have up-to-date PDIS accounts and appropriate credentials.
  • Attend required meetings and continuing education sessions and meet Colorado's Office of Early Childhood Child Care Licensing's required training and professional development hours
  • Provide first aid, and health-related services as needed.

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING GUIDELINES

Experience:

Previous experience in a licensed preschool / child care setting is required; administrative or management experience is preferred.

Experience working with early childhood special education students in a public preschool school is preferred.

Training/ Education:

Maintain the 15 hours of training yearly required through Colorado State Licensing.

Certificate or Credential:

Must meet Colorado's Office of Early Childhood Child Care Licensing

Ability to obtain Large Center Director qualification by having a Level 3 Level Credential.

Current, or willing to update, on First Aid/ CPR/ Universal Precautions/ Medication Administration and Delegation training and certifications.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work both inside and outside and will frequently be required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time. The employee must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children. The employee must be able to lift a minimum of 25-50 pounds. The noise level is usually moderate.

Primary functions may require maintaining physical conditions necessary for traveling, sitting (including sitting on the floor), getting up and down from the floor, and standing for prolonged periods of time; use of a computer keyboard; light lifting; and carrying.

Work Day: Director/ECSE's are expected to be on site at least 80% of the time. Center is open (7:15am-5:15pm) year round with breaks throughout the year.

SALARY RANGE: $55,732 - $91,116
