General Position Description: Provides leadership over the Office of Students with Disabilities (OSD) servicing students with disabilities on all campuses including provision of reasonable accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 Legislation. Working within resources to provide interpreter services to the hearing impaired, making recommendations for accommodations for facility and equipment needs, and College wide budget management. This position reports to the Dean of Counseling Advising, and Holistic Student Support.

Flexible Work Arrangement: Majority/Primarily On-site: Employee performs the majority of job duties on-site, but may occasionally work remotely.

Salary Range: $70,956 - $80,180 per year

Description of Job Function: 1. Plans, develops, and implements a program of services and activities which result in students' educational, cultural, and social growth. This includes but is not limited to academic skills, health and safety, transfer, and career planning workshops; orientation for incoming students with disabilities and their parents; probation intervention program; and various support groups as requested.

Description of Job Function: 2. Facilitates as liaison with college depts to ensure that student and instructional services are implemented in accordance with established College wide standards and federal and state law.

Description of Job Function: 3. Provides ongoing consulting towards creating an environment that is conducive for learning and acts as liaison with outside agencies.

Description of Job Function: 4. Works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to address and resolve complex issues, requests, and concerns when they arrive.

Description of Job Function: 5. Provides leadership for the Collegewide Office for Students with Disabilities team and on all campuses including hiring recommendations, scheduling, training, and evaluation.

Description of Job Function: 6. Conducts quarterly and annual review of trends and student needs in order to assess critical needs and work collaboratively with the Dean of Counseling, Advising, and Holistic Student Support to make data informed decisions.

Description of Job Function: 7. Responsible for the development and implementation of the College wide OSD budget and accessing additional funding sources as necessary.

Description of Job Function: 8. Responsible for the management of the Deaf/hard of Hearing Program including: a fiscally responsible plan to provide interpreters and captionists for deaf/hard of hearing students; provision of interpreting/captioning services to students as appropriate; procuring and updating auxiliary aids, computer equipment and software; and ensuring access to student and instructional services.

Description of Job Function: 9. Maintains and secures all confidential records (documentation, correspondence, and legal information) pertaining to students with disabilities. Ensures staff is appropriately trained regarding FERPA, HIPPA and other relevant legislation.

Description of Job Function: 10. Implements campus publicity systems to ensure widespread dissemination of information on OSD programs and services. This includes but is not limited to brochure; website; student handbook; Deaf/Hard of Hearing Handbook; faculty/staff handbook; and transition portfolio.

Description of Job Function: 11. Responsible for making recommendations regarding the College's adaptive equipment/software needs to ensure equal access for student with disabilities.

Description of Job Function: 12. Provides guidance and support as a resource for Valencia community by planning, directing, and implementing faculty and staff development programs/workshops regarding disability issues and best practices.

Description of Job Function: 13. Monitors evolving practices and legal developments that impact current decisions, actions and outcomes that should be incorporated at the College.

Description of Job Function: 14. Collaborates with Orange and Osceola County School Districts to facilitate successful transitions to the post-secondary setting for students with disabilities. Works with faculty, staff, and students to review student accommodation requests.

Description of Job Function: 16. Coordinates the Office for Students with Disabilities Service Advisory Council and supports task groups.

Required Minimum Education: Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, or any equivalent combination of related education, training, and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions.

Other Required Qualifications: Two (2) years of progressively responsible relevant experience in counseling and coordinating services with individuals with disabilities or related activities to include managerial or supervisory experience.

Preferred Education & Field of Study: Student personnel, counseling, and guidance, public
administration or related field.

Preferred Type of Experience: Experience working in an educational and/or community College in the field of
disability.

General Working Conditions: This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to frequently using discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
