Director Data Modeler The Role
As the Director Data Modeler supporting Workplace Investments (WI), you blend deep data modeling knowledge and Data Architecture experience to build Data Models for multiple Key initiatives. In an agile structure you will collaborate with other leaders to establish the standards for your CoE, influence the strategic decisions and build solutions to help scale our business. You will lead and guide a team of data modelers who primarily work within autonomous squads across product areas. You are committed to staying hands-on, developing your own expertise and knowledge to bring the latest thinking to your role and to empower others with that knowledge. You will work closely with the business and technical teams and build or assist in the creation of scalable, flexible, and well detailed data models that will improve the WI product offerings and speed time to market. You will help to drive conformance to the WI data strategy and Enterprise Data Taxonomy. You are a thought-leader and build presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring - Strong Data modeling (Conceptual, Logical, Physical, 3nF, Dimensional) at both a project and enterprise level
- Dimensional Modeling with experience in crafting conformed dimensions that can be used across Business Units.
- Knowledge of Data Modeling Tools such as Powerdesigner, Oracle Designer or Erwin
- Understanding of principles and industry standards around Data Architecture
- Experience working with Data Engineering and Data Analytics teams
- Experience in Data Analytics and ability to write SQL to query data
- Solid grasp of Database technologies (DB2, Oracle and Snowflake), techniques, and trends
- Experience with Mainframe, distributed and Cloud (AWS/Azure) environments
- Experience with data governance and metadata management tools and standard methodologies a plus
- Excellent written and presentation skills
- Ability to explain Data structures to a non-technical audience
- Results oriented with proven ability to work independently and with a matrixed organization
- Strong leadership, teamwork, interpersonal, negotiating, and influencing skills
