Responsibilities:
The Director of Clinical Risk is responsible for supporting identified centers in risk prevention, mitigating
risk, and ensuring the defensibility of clinical records. This role involves assessing processes from pre-
admission to discharge to identify opportunities for improvement, conducting thorough audits,
providing actionable feedback, and implementing performance improvement strategies.
The Director will also attend clinical, safety, and other key meetings to provide feedback, improve the
efficiency of discussions, and enhance decision-making processes. Additionally, this role will support
centers in improving customer service and the patient experience, ensuring appropriate and timely
communication with patients and their representatives regarding clinical expectations.
A key function of this role is to provide guidance and support to center staff and clinical advisors during
reportable events and grievances, ensuring appropriate documentation, root cause analysis and
investigations, timely response, and adherence to regulatory requirements. The Director will assist in
analyzing incidents, identifying contributing factors, and implementing corrective actions to mitigate
future risks.
The Director of Clinical Risk Management will serve as a resource to clinical teams, ensuring compliance
with policies, regulations, and best practices to minimize liability and enhance patient care outcomes.
The incumbent will also serve as a resource for additional risk-related issues, including falls, patients
with high-risk conditions, and other documentation improvement projects.
Qualifications:
1. RN is required; BSN or Bachelor of Science in nursing is strongly preferred
2. CLNC (Certified Legal Nurse Consultant), LNC (Legal Nurse Consultant) or similar certification is
preferred.
3. Clinical experience in a nursing home is required.
4. Knowledge and experience with clinical charting (computerized and paper), incident reporting and
investigation response are required.
5. Strong knowledge base of acceptable standards of care in the nursing profession and best
practices are required.
6. Knowledge of nursing home regulations and survey process is required.
7. Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, Database Management, and PowerPoint skills are required
8. Excellent reporting and record-keeping skills are required.
