At NorthBay Health, we're seeking a transformational Director of Clinical Informatics to lead and elevate the integration of clinical workflows and information systems across the organization.
This role reports directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and works closely with senior leaders, including the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO), AVP of Applications, and Vice President of Patient Care Services. The Director will play a critical role in determining IT priorities that align with strategic plans, quality initiatives, and evolving clinical needs.
The Director of Clinical Informatics will also serve as a key contributor to NorthBay's upcoming transition from Cerner to Epic, helping guide the organization through this complex system migration. This individual will be instrumental in clinical workflow alignment, end-user readiness, and training strategies to ensure a successful implementation and sustained adoption across all settings.
You'll be responsible for ensuring the consistency and optimization of clinical content and system design across both inpatient and ambulatory settings. As the leader of the Clinical Informatics team - including informaticists, IT educators, and adoption strategists - you'll oversee all aspects of EHR training, content enhancements, and workflow refinement, with a strong focus on system reliability, clinician adoption, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership in clinical system training and workflow integration.
- Oversee EHR training and coordinate vendor-supported education for onboarding, updates, and changes.
- Lead content standardization and design strategy across all care settings.
- Manage and mentor a high-performing team focused on adoption, education, and optimization.
- Act as the primary liaison between Patient Care Services and IT.
- Develop and implement strategies to achieve sustainable clinical IT adoption and return on investment.
- Prioritize enhancement requests and lead structured implementation processes.
- Update policies and procedures in alignment with clinical and system improvements.
- Champion user-centered education that blends system functionality with clinical workflows.
Required Qualifications:
- California RN License (Required)
- Master's Degree in Nursing or related healthcare field (Required)
- Specialization in Healthcare Informatics or Information Systems (Preferred)
- Minimum 8 years of experience in clinical system redesign, informatics, or optimization
- At least 10 years in hospital-based nursing leadership (Preferred)
- Proven experience with Cerner EHR systems (Strongly Preferred)
