Storied is a pioneer and innovator in the digital newspaper and family history space. We were the first company to bring historical newspaper content online, changing the landscape forever. We also launched a new family history website in January 2023 that is disrupting the industry with key innovations around storytelling, collaboration, and family tree technology. We are growing quickly and are trying to get the right team in place to take the business to the next level.
The Role
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, data-driven, problem-solver, a multitasker, and a demonstrated team player and manager. This is a high-impact role reporting directly to the CMO, and the candidate will be responsible for driving actionable insight. They will manage a small team and collaborate with product, engineering, and marketing leaders. This role will be instrumental in developing BI tools, dashboards, custom reports, and analyses that provide meaningful insights.
Responsibilities
- Manage, monitor, implement, and optimize all aspects of analytics from in-house systems as well as third-party vendors (Google Analytics 4, Facebook, third-party advertising platforms)
- Responsibilities include working across departments to conceptualize, build, and automate internal-facing dashboards and reports
- Manage ETL developer to ensure data flow while managing warehousing costs
- Manage Analyst to build and maintain visualization of data through Tableau reports
- Provide strategic vision and tactical excellence on how to improve data and analytics
- Interface with team leads and executive team to provide data insights and reporting
- Keep apprised of best practices and trends
- Report to the CMO
Requirements
- BA/BS degree or equivalent
- 5+ years minimum of ETL and analytics experience
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills are vital
- Strong management skills, with the ability to contribute on an individual level
- Advanced analytics, data modeling, and reporting skills
- Experience with Google Analytics 4, Data Studio
- Experience with A/B and multivariate testing platforms and data
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and determine valid conclusions
- Knowledge of data warehousing and RDBMS principles and capabilities
- Experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, Postgres
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, dbt, Data Bricks
- Write SQL efficiently to handle big data
- Python experience for ETL, data manipulation, and data analysis
- Ability to manage numerous tasks concurrently and hit deadlines and goals
- Ability to work well with remote teams
- Highly responsible, self-starter - able to thrive without a large amount of oversight
