If you need to request an accommodation to fully participate in the search process, please contact .Job DescriptionReporting to the CIS's Assistant Vice President for Planning & Engagement, the Director of Academic Computing Services (ACS) provides leadership and expertise in instructional and research technologies for the college, working with faculty, students, and other college constituencies towards the purposeful integration of digital technologies and new media into the college curriculum.
Responsibilities - Lead the ACS team by supervising personnel, maintain high standards of day-to-day performance, accountability, collaboration, and accuracy, and coordinate individual and team goals to align with long-term objectives.
- Plan annual programs and projects, and manage both annual operating and project budgets.
- Act as the college's senior subject matter expert on academic and instructional technologies, maintaining a leading awareness among peers of technology and educational trends, emerging technologies, and evolving needs of faculty and students; represent ACS and CIS in college committees and at regional and national conferences.
- Plan and deliver both technical and instructional design support for faculty and academic departments, covering a variety of technology-enabled pedagogies, that contributes to the professional development of faculty. Supervise the ACS team in planning and delivering workshops, authoring informational materials, and engaging faculty directly in targeted interactions as required to advance faculty goals.
- Set and drive the strategic vision for the Grace Hopper Innovation Center, aligning it with academic programs and institutional goals. Develop success metrics to assess and enhance its impact on student learning, faculty engagement, and innovation. Support innovation in and beyond the classroom and foster opportunities for faculty to share their work with peers and the community.
- Support faculty grant writing efforts pertaining to academic technology.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with faculty and academic leaders to ensure ongoing engagement around faculty needs, ACS priorities, and instructional technology. Proactively gather feedback to drive strategic action and maintain transparent communication with all stakeholders.
- Lead the ACS Team in identifying, implementing, and supporting technology services specific to teaching, learning and research, including the college's learning management system (LMS) and high-performance computing. In partnership within CIS and with faculty and administrative partners, promote the development of governance and support for emerging technology, such as AI.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities - Master's degree and 10 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of successful management experience in a service-oriented technology environment.
- Demonstrated, in-depth knowledge of technologies used to support higher education academic and research programs.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to present services to diverse groups of student and faculty clients and to propose initiatives and budget requests to executive audiences.
- Experience with delivering workshops and classroom teaching.
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities - Experience collaborating with campus entities to create teaching and learning environments that value inclusion and belonging, and direct engagement with pedagogical innovation.
CompensationThe starting annual base salary range is $110,000-$115,000.
