Position Summary

Our Manager-In-Training (MIT) program offers you the chance to learn and grow within an established company with over 45 years of experience. The program lasts approximately twenty (20) weeks and includes hands-on and computer-based training covering:

  • General Training & Comprehension - Learn and perform the roles of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher, including operating various industrial kitchen equipment.
  • Leadership Development - Lead small groups of line staff in food preparation, serving, and clean-up activities on different shifts.
  • Policies & Procedures - Ensure food quality, safety standards, inventory, and customer service meet company and regulatory standards.
  • Reporting - Maintain records of income, expenditures, food, supplies, personnel, and equipment in report format.
  • Training - Oversee staff training, quality control, and in-servicing to meet HCSG standards, including performing essential job functions when needed.
  • Leadership - Handle managerial responsibilities such as payroll, staffing, coaching, purchasing, inventory, and budgeting.
  • Communication - Effectively relay directives from management to staff.
  • Safety - Use protective gear, handle cleaning solutions safely, report issues promptly, and follow infection control policies.
  • Punctuality - Maintain consistent attendance and respond promptly to communications.
  • Customer & Resident Experience - Represent HCSG positively through courteous and tactful interactions.

Qualifications

  • Positive attitude, ability to follow instructions, perform routine tasks.
  • Ability to lead independently after training, without injury.
  • Associate's degree or higher in food service management or hospitality preferred.
  • Training and certification in food safety and management required, including CFP FPM within 14 days and FSM & LTC-FSM within 60 days.
  • Experience in food production/service and supervision preferred.
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting.
  • Ability to complete sanitation and safety courses if required.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend, and work around food and cleaning products.
  • Reside in the service area.
