Robert R. McCormick Charitable Trust and designated Cantigny as a public space for education and recreation. Cantigny Park is home to the McCormick House, First Division Museum, formal gardens, picnic grounds, and walking trails. Cantigny is host to numerous special events, concerts, weddings, garden tours, museum tours, lectures, horticulture workshops, fitness classes, and more throughout the year.

Position Summary

Cantigny is seeking a Digital Marketing & PR Contractor to join our Communications team and provide strategic execution support for digital advertising, social media growth, and media outreach, reporting directly to Creative Services & Online Community Manager. This role will play a key part in achieving our 2025 marketing goals and advancing our 2030 strategy by driving targeted digital campaigns, increasing brand visibility, and enhancing audience engagement. Responsibilities include managing digital ad campaigns, optimizing content for social media growth, developing media outreach strategies, and implementing best practices to strengthen our overall marketing efforts.

Essential Functions

Advertising & Marketing Optimization
  • Audit and optimize ad spend for maximum ROI.
  • Define and implement best practices for diverse business areas.
Email Marketing & Segmentation
  • Assist in transitioning email marketing from Mailchimp to Square.
  • Ensure proper segmentation and list-building strategies.
Influencer & Social Media Strategy
  • Support influencer program development.
  • Facilitate Social Media Roundtable to generate 10+ campaign ideas per quarter.
  • Execute expanded First Division Museum (FDM) social media presence.
Public Relations & Media Engagement
  • Write press releases and craft media pitches.
  • Engage media contacts to secure event and brand coverage.
  • Develop a streamlined PR process for future outreach.
Content & Engagement Growth
  • Increase social media engagement and digital audience growth.
  • Strengthen PR and content strategy to enhance brand visibility.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Digital Media, or a related field.

Experience: 7-10 years

Skills:
  • Proficiency in analyzing and optimizing ad spend for ROI.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing best practices across multiple platforms.
  • Proficiency in Mailchimp and Square marketing platforms.
  • Ability to develop and execute social media strategies to drive engagement and growth.
  • Experience managing influencer partnerships and campaigns.
  • Strong writing skills for press releases, media pitches, and content creation.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key media contacts.
  • Excellent content development skills for digital platforms.
  • Understanding of SEO best practices and content optimization.
  • Ability to manage timelines, prioritize tasks, and ensure successful execution of campaigns.
  • Proficient in tracking, analyzing, and reporting on digital marketing metrics and KPIs.
  • Ability to use data to inform decision-making and optimize strategies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous work in destination marketing or parks and recreation is a plus
Working Conditions:

This is a contractor position, reporting to the Creative Services & Online Community Manager.
