This position supervises and directs the Nutrition Services Department and provides professional nutrition and food service expertise for the Program's residents.
This is a full-time position and generally works Monday through Friday, daytime business hours. The incumbent should be prepared to demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness by being available for staffing-related calls as needed, ensuring smooth and continuous operations.
The Minnesota Veterans Home in Hastings is a Domiciliary (DOM) which is an independent living community for Veterans. It provides a supportive environment that fosters a stable, healthy, and meaningful life for Veterans. Our rewarding program helps Veterans with their clinical, mental, chemical, and physical needs, and has the capacity to serve 195 Veterans between the Hastings and Minneapolis campuses. The Hastings DOM is located in the southeast metro with connecting highways for an easy commute. The beautiful 128-acre wooded campus includes mature oaks and pines, nature trails and biking paths overlooking the Vermillion River.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Current licensure as a Dietitian with the MN Board of Dietetics, in good standing
One year of experience managing a food service operation including supervision of food service staff in a medium sized healthcare facility
Strong human relations, communication and effective teambuilding skills to lead and direct the Dietary Department and work with interdisciplinary teams on nutritional issues
Supervisory experience in a union environment
Experience with food purchasing and budgeting for a medium sized healthcare facility
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of Dietetics, Diet Therapy, and Institutional Diet Management, including food values, costs and accounting
Computer skills using electronic charting system (such as Point Click Care), email, word processing, and spreadsheet software (e.g. Microsoft Office or similar), as well as other internet and software applications, sufficient to send correspondence, develop and modify documents and reports
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with Veterans
Experience working with vulnerable adults and maintaining confidentiality
Experience working with chemical dependency, mental health and co-occurring disorders

This position requires successful completion of the following:
A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position. When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.
A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) Screening or Chest X-Ray is required prior to employment.
