Job description

The Mechanical Supervisor will oversee the Diesel Mechanics in the Service Department. The Supervisor will play a key role in the management of people and process, driving productivity and ensuring a quality product is produced in a timely fashion. The Supervisor will address any departmental issues and help guide mechanics. They will work with other departments and assist in meeting company goals. He/She will foster a good working relationship between their department and all other departments of the company.


Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversee the operations and daily activities of Diesel Mechanics
  • Work with Production Manager to ensure accuracy of daily schedule
  • Train technicians to perform all standard jobs/duties timely and correctly the first time
  • Lead department procedure to ensure quality and completeness of work performed
  • Develop, oversee and implement new hire training process
  • Set expectations and drive productivity through teamwork, respect, and willingness to help and support others
  • Resolve any departmental issues or concerns that may arise
  • Follow and enforce all company policies and procedures, as well as regulations required by any city, county, state or federal governing body
  • Coordinate and drive housekeeping efforts and maintenance activities for shop equipment
  • Monitor and ensure trucks are in line with preset budget
  • Well versed in aftertreatment (certification is a plus)
  • Coordinate and lead daily communication and monthly department meetings
  • Assign work and manage processes; ensure accurate and on-time completeness of assigned service orders

Required Education, Skills & Abilities:

  • High School Graduation or equivalent
  • 5+ years of diesel mechanical experience
  • 5+ years Management experience
  • Must have strong management characteristics
  • Electrical aptitude preferred
  • Must have proven successful experience leading a team of 8+ employees
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
