Job Summary:

The Bindery Operator is responsible for providing finishing services for press and copier projects in compliance with job specifications and company quality standards. The Bindery Operator follows the workload schedule to meet the customer deadlines. The Bindery Operator also performs daily/weekly/monthly maintenance on all bindery equipment to ensure optimum output and works closely with other staff members to exceed customer satisfaction and service expectations.

The Bindery Operator is a member of the production team and accountable for:

Responsibility and Duties:

General and Administrative:
•  Coordinate with production team to produce and prioritize jobs.
•  Comply with all OSHA and Printcraft safety requirements.
•  Participate as a key player of the production team by supporting operations as needed.
•  Communicate effectively with the General Manager, Owner, Production Manager, sales team, and the production team; informing and updating them regularly to guarantee sales objectives and customer objectives are being met.
•  Follow systems and procedures outlined in company manuals.
Diecutter Operations:
•  Make-ready, adjust and run job as to meet safety and productivity standards.
•  Examine job order to determine quantity to be cut, stock specifications and special die cutting instructions
•  Make necessary adjustments to ensure quality
•  Ensure information is communicated between shifts
•  Ensure Company Safety, ISO, Quality and Production standards are met
•  Perform proper and required maintenance as well as cleaning of Die Cutter and logging accurate maintenence logs
•  Maintenance duties include stooping under machinery, entering confined spaces and climbing ladders.
•  Must input information into computer for proper tracking of inventory and waste.
Equipment and Supplies:
•  Clean and maintain equipment and work area following maintenance procedures and update maintenance logs.
•  Monitor and manage diecutting supplies, order materials as instructed.
•  Inform supervisor of equipment problems.
Required Skills:

Qualifications:

•  High school diploma or equivalent with experience or vocational/technical certification.
•  Strong interpersonal skills.
•  Good mathematical skills.
•  Comfortable on computer
•  1-3 years running a BOBST, Yawa or any automatic Die Cutter is strongly preferred
•  Able to apply written instructions to machine set-up and maintenance.
•  Reliable attendance, punctuality and attention to work station.
Working Conditions:

•  Standing for prolonged periods of time - up to 8 hours or more per day.
•  Bending, twisting, stooping and occasional kneeling to clear jams
•  Frequent lifting of objects up to 50 lbs.
•  Work area will have florescent lighting and temperature variations.
•  Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
•  Exposure to ink, chemical fumes and airborne particles such as paper dust and drying powder.
•  Fast-paced environment subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity.
