JOB DESCRIPTION

This Diabetes Educator - Registered Dietitian provides group and individual self-management diabetes education to outpatients. Functions with a competency level of Diabetes Educator Level 1 to a Level 2. This position may be required to travel to other facilities. Will also provide clinical nutrition assessments and recommendations.

Work Schedule: 24 hrs weekly / .6 FTE, Days, Monday-Friday

Required Qualifications:

Degree in Dietetics
Must be Registered Dietitian through Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) upon start
Must be licensed as a Certified Dietitian through WI Department of Safety & Professional Services (If WI certification is not present at hire, must obtain within 4 months of start)
Current BLS - American Heart Association or BLS - American Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer & Health Care Provider)

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with diabetes patients
2 years post education nursing or nutrition experience
Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist (CDCES) through Certification Board for Diabetes Care & Education (CBDCE). If the applicant is not a CDCES, they will be expected to sit for the exam once testing requirements are met.
If candidate is an experienced CDCES and meets competency level of Diabetes Educator Level 2 to Level 3, they will be put into the role of "Diabetes Education Specialist".
