Your role and responsibilities

A DevOps Platform Engineer is an expert in utilizing AWS platforms for ensuring site reliability and performance goals. They are responsible for identifying potential failures and performance bottlenecks, providing feedback to architecture teams, and selecting tools for integrating into CI/CD pipelines for performance, code quality, and code coverage measurement. DevOps Platform Engineers define and implement strategies for availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning. They also identify and implement scaling methods and tools for logging, monitoring, alerting, and run book automation for auto remediation. In critical situations, DevOps Platform Engineers work with application and support teams to identify root causes of failures and assist in their resolution. By incorporating software engineering principles, they also create highly scalable and reliable software systems.

You enjoy collaborating with a cross-functional team and customer stakeholders to deliver valuable solutions. Stay abreast of new capabilities offered by open-source tools and cloud services in order to proactively provide recommendations to incorporate them. Actively participate in and contribute to planning, refinement, estimation, design, retrospective, and technical demo meetings. Identify opportunities for refinement, tools consolidation, cost savings, and other continuous improvement.

Required technical and professional expertise
  • Experience with several of the following platforms and tools: AWS EC2, ECS, EKS, and Lambda, Terraform, Docker, Swagger, Redis, New Relic, Kubernetes
  • Experience with at least one of the following: Java, Javascript, Ruby, Python.
CI/CD tools such as Gradle, Docker, GitHub, Nexus, Jenkins, JUnit, SonarQube, Selenium, Cucumber Proficiency in cloud engineering - building, delivering, and managing cloud environments, shell scripting, networking, storage, and release management
  • 3+ years' experience supporting cloud applications for large-scale enterprise business customers
  • 2+ years' experience working in an agile development environment, preferably SAFe or Scrum
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DHS EOD (Public Trust)
Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Years of Experience: 7+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Residence within the U.S. for three (3) of the past five (5) years, and current residence within the U.S.
  • Current Public Trust
