In this role as a DevOps engineer on Apple's Hardware Methodologies, Tool, & Solutions (HMTS) Platform team, you will serve as a vital connector between conventional IT infrastructure development and operations. Your contributions will be key to delivering an exceptional design environment for hardware engineering, supporting Apple's commitment to leading innovation in hardware.

Description

You are passionate about automating your workflow and documenting your processes for the entire team's benefit. You also leverage your Systems Admin experience to grow your DevOps role. As an independent problem-solver, you excel at managing multiple competing priorities and delivering timely solutions. Your responsibilities will include: Resolving technical production incidents and ensuring operational continuity. Maintaining clear, current documentation of system configurations, including creating detailed justifications, training materials for complex topics, status reports, and procedural guides. Collaborating with internal teams and management to improve system stability, security, efficiency, and scalability. Design engineering platforms and tools that simplify the process of building, deploying, and operating applications. Demonstrating strong troubleshooting skills by independently identifying and resolving issues.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with several years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience in a DevOps role in an enterprize environment with private and public cloud exposure.
  • Proven experience in a Systems Admin or Systems/IT support role in an enterprize environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in deploying and maintaining Bare-Metal infrastructure(HyperVisors, Windows, Linux, Storage)
  • Experience managing and developing infrastructure and services within public cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
  • Broad experience supporting and maintaining common Linux/Unix applications and services, as well as a good understanding of DNS, DHCP, LDAP,AD, NFS, AutoFS, Kerberos, PAM,SSSD, PXE, SNMP, SSH, VNC, X11, HTTP/S, and NTP
  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, or similar platforms).
  • Proficiency with Helm and Kustomize for managing Kubernetes applications and configurations, particularly through GitOps practices.
  • Familiarity with configuration management or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Ansible or Terraform is highly desirable.
  • A strong commitment to operational excellence through the use of automation and sound engineering practices, with experience in languages such as Bash, Python & Go.
  • A proactive approach to ensuring high uptime for mission-critical services.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling effective collaboration with program managers and engineering teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while keeping up with emerging technologies.
  • Experience with logging and observability tools such as Splunk or Prometheus, or comparable alternatives.
  • A proven track record in software engineering, including design, testing, source control management, and CI/CD practices.
  • A drive to automate repetitive tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that enable you to influence others and negotiate positive outcomes for customers.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • The ability to maintain a professional demeanor in any situation.
