SII Group USA is seeking a skilled DevOps Database Administrator (DBA) to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining secure, high-performance AWS RDS environments. You will play a key part in supporting our DevOps efforts by ensuring database stability, integrating with CI/CD pipelines, and enabling automation and observability across systems. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-availability database infrastructure in AWS (MySQL, Amazon Aurora).
  • Monitor database performance, forecast capacity needs, and automate recurring operational tasks.
  • Develop and maintain scripts for monitoring, backup, ETL, schema migration, and performance tuning.
  • Migrate on-premises databases to AWS cloud environments.
  • Troubleshoot database issues, optimize queries, and provide Tier 2/3 support including after-hours on-call.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and development teams to integrate database services with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Enforce security best practices including IAM, encryption, and continuous monitoring.
  • Manage environments across development, staging, UAT, and production.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and process improvements.
  • Support the development of reporting solutions using AWS QuickSight and other tools.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on cloud database administration.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with cloud-based databases, especially AWS RDS (MySQL, Aurora).
  • Deep experience with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS tools (CloudWatch, CloudFormation, Lambda).
  • Strong knowledge of database administration concepts including high availability, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Proficient with scripting and automation (e.g., SQL, shell, Python).
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.
  • Experience supporting ETL processes and data replication strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, self-motivated mindset.
  • Experience with DevOps principles and continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Comfortable supporting deployments across different environments and locations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS Certified Database - Specialty or equivalent certifications.
  • Knowledge of MSSQL, Oracle, and database operations on Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Familiarity with AWS QuickSight for building reports and dashboards.
