Job Summary:
Evergreen Treatment Services (ETS) is a mission-driven nonprofit organization specializing in substance use treatment and homeless outreach services. ETS has been serving the Puget Sound region for more than 50 years. Our work is organized into two areas: Clinic Services and REACH.
Our Clinic Services team provides medication, counseling, and treatment to more than 4,500 people with opioid use disorder annually at three clinics in Seattle, Renton, and Olympia, Washington. REACH provides street-based social services for more than 6,000 people living outside or unstably housed, many of whom have had interactions with the criminal legal system. Many ETS participants have endured trauma and harm from broken and oppressive institutional systems that are often the root cause of their substance use. We strive to uplift the humanity and dignity of each person we serve as we walk alongside them on their journey to better their lives.
Established in 2017, ETS's philanthropic arm is in growth mode. In additional to annual fundraising efforts, ETS is embarking on a capital campaign to redevelop our largest clinic site, as well as the purchase and development of a new flagship site for our REACH programs. The Development Manager will manage annual fundraising activities including campaigns and events throughout the year, direct solicitations with mid-level donors, as well oversee systems and processes related to fundraising. The Development Manager reports to the VP of Philanthropy & Communications, is a member of the organization-wide Leadership Council, and works closely with key internal and external stakeholders This position focuses on meaningful donor engagement and retention, contributing to resource development for our programs and services, leading to better life outcomes for the communities we serve.
The work environment is deadline orientated, dynamic, fast-paced and one must be able to quickly adapt to a continually evolving landscape. This role requires a high level of detail, organization, and proactive communication. Ideal candidate must be an communicator ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. What you contribute to this role - Responsibilities:
Development Planning & Operations
• Contribute to the creation and execution of a strategic development plan in alignment with organizational strategic plan
• Manage development calendar including, but not limited to, special events, campaigns, and appeals
• Establish systems and procedures to facilitate the moves management process, from identification to stewardship
• Monitor ETS's donor pyramid and identify acquisition and retention strategies to build out sustainable donor structure
• Ensure accurate tracking of all development activities in DonorPerfect CRM as well as maintaining donor records
• Oversee reconciliation process with finance department for contributed income
• Prepare regular reports for leadership and maintain development dashboard
• Assist Vice President of Philanthropy & Communications and other team members as needed Donor Engagement & Acknowledgement
• Develop and sustain strong relationships with donors; individuals, foundations, and corporations
• Design and implement thoughtful donor acknowledgement and stewardship programs
• Arrange and attend stakeholder meetings as needed
• Conduct prospect research to identify potentional donors
• Direct the planning, implementation, and expansion of community networking and donor cultivation opportunities
• Oversee donor acknowledgement processes ensuring timely and meaningful recognition of gifts Annual Event Management
• Develop and implement strategies to grow ETS's signature annual fundraising event
• Manage annual event activities related to people, logistics, communications, and day-of execution
• Recruit and mobilize event team, table captains, sponsor solicitors, procurement team, and volunteers
• Participate in and administer Event Team meetings leading up to the event
• Contribute to ideation around theme, visuals, décor, etc. and partner with communications team to develop materials
• Coordinate with vendors including venue, catering, AV, photographer, etc.
• Responsible for any necessary permitting and permissions
• Monitor budget and track expenses
• Coordinate procurement efforts (i.e. alcohol, silent auction items, desserts)
• Identify and solicit leadership gifts for paddle raise
• Prepare monthly, bi-weekly, and weekly reports to track progress
• Coordinate week-of work party to prepare registration materials
• Prepare day-of materials including name tags, meal cards, bid numbers, and all things related to guests and registration
• Serve as day-of coordinator and oversee day-of check-in/registration team
• Ensure that post-event activities are completed in a timely manner; payment processing, donor acknowledgement, reporting, and evaluatio n Appeals, Campaigns, & Special Events
• Manage appeals, campaigns, and special events in addition to annual event according to development calendar including, but not limited to GiveBIG, Giving Tuesday, year-end giving
• Partner with communications team to design and draft compelling appeals
• Coordinate direct mail and digital campaigns
• Establish and grow the Evergreen GEM monthly giving program
• Work with printers and vendors to order collateral and other materials
• Attend meetings and communicate action items and pertinent information to team-members as needed Supervision
• As development team grows, position will supervise other development team members including hiring, recruitment, supervision, and retention of said employees Note: New and/or different duties and responsibilities may be assigned to this job at any time.
Requirements
What you bring to this role - Qualifications:
• Education and/or Relevant and Lived Experience (if applicable):
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• Professional development education or training
• Knowledge and Skills:
• At least three (3) years of experience in a development role in a non-profit setting with experience leading projects, campaigns, and/or events.
• Demonstrated experience with event planning and execution.
• Experience successfully fundraising with individuals, foundations, and corporations, particularly in the $1,000-$10,000 gift range.
• Familiarity with Community-Centric Fundraising (CCF) and experience implementing CCF philosophy and strategies.
• Experience utilizing customer/constituent resource management (CRM) databases to track fundraising activities. Experience with DonorPerfect is a plus.
• Experience utilizing event management software to manage events. Experience with Greater Giving is a plus.
• Required:
