A leading global engineering organisation is seeking a Development Engineer to join their Base Engine Component Engineering Team. This position arises at a pivotal time of strategic investment in advanced engine technologies, aligned with the evolving demands of the global energy landscape. The position is currently paying up to 41.85phr PAYE and 56.41phr Umbrella. The current working hours are 37 hours a week. Monday to Thursday 8:30-16:45 and Friday 8:15-16:15

The successful candidate will play a key role in the development of new products, technology integration, and platform enhancements for both in-house and third-party industrial engine applications. This is a technically challenging role suited to an experienced engineer who is comfortable operating across a global matrix of manufacturing, supplier, and customer interfaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the validation of core engine systems, including test planning and execution

  • Supporting new product development through technical issue resolution and design validation

  • Conducting FMEA to identify risks and define validation requirements

  • Driving and participating in component and system design reviews

  • Diagnosing root causes of field, test, and production issues and implementing effective corrective actions

  • Liaising with suppliers and internal stakeholders to manage design and development progress

Candidate Requirements:

  • HNC, technical degree, or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Automotive, or a related Engineering discipline

  • Minimum of 3 years' development experience in engine systems or mechanical components

  • Technical knowledge in one or more areas: rotating systems, valvetrain, castings, lubrication, cooling, sealing, or bolted joints

  • Familiarity with manufacturing principles and validation processes

  • Proven ability to manage complex engineering tasks and deliver within agreed timelines

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative approach to teamwork

Desirable Experience:

  • Background in diesel or alternative fuel engine development

  • Exposure to 8D problem solving and APQP methodologies

  • Experience working with DVP&R, FMEA, and engineering data systems (e.g., Team Centre)

  • Proficiency in Creo or similar CAD tools

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft O365, particularly Teams
