Position Overview
The Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts (PCPA) seeks a dynamic, strategic, and community-minded Development Director to lead its fundraising efforts. Reporting directly to the CEO, this full-time, exempt position plays a vital role in advancing PCPA's mission by strengthening its financial sustainability and building a robust development program.
The Development Director will be responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy, with a focus on individual giving, corporate partnerships, grant acquisition and management, donor stewardship, and data-driven development practices. As the organization grows, so will the scope and impact of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and expand a comprehensive fundraising program from PCPA's current foundation.
- Identify, write, and manage grant proposals and maintain strong relationships with grant funders.
- Oversee and grow fundraising initiatives, including the Annual Appeal and Break-Away Theatre Tours.
- Manage corporate sponsorships and philanthropic partnerships.
- Cultivate and steward donor relationships across all giving levels; track gifts and ensure timely recognition and communication.
- Conduct prospect research to develop new partnerships, sponsorships, and fundraising opportunities.
- Represent PCPA at community and promotional events.
- Maintain accurate development data and statistics for reports, marketing, and funding proposals.
- Collaborate with internal teams on donor communications, events, and public-facing materials.
- Support live donor engagement events and fundraising activities.
- Other duties as assigned by the CEO.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of nonprofit development experience, with a proven record in increasing philanthropic support.
- Membership in the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).
- Proficiency in grant writing, capital campaigns, major gifts, corporate giving, and donor stewardship.
- Strong experience with CRM systems and data analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Excellent writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Willingness to work evenings/weekends as needed and travel locally or nationally.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Commitment to the northern Nevada community and the arts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with capital or major fundraising campaigns.
- Knowledge of planned giving and estate planning strategies.
- Spanish language skills.
- Interest in a long-term role with a close-knit, collaborative organization.
Compensation & Benefits
- Full-time, salaried position Pay Range: $80,000-$100,000, commensurate with experience.
- Based in Reno, NV; hybrid flexibility considered on a case-by-case basis.

Since 1968, we've hosted Broadway touring shows and original programming like the Dog Days of Summer Dance Festival and Pioneer Center Youth Programs. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, our mission is to deliver exceptional performing arts experiences and foster a community connected and inspired through live performance. Each year, we present over 150 events to an audience of approximately 120,000.
