SUMMARY: The Development Coordinator plays a crucial role in assisting the agency with establishing and meeting its short- and long-term fundraising objectives and provides support to program staff, board members, volunteers, and donors throughout the process.

Primary functions include managing the donor database executing agency fundraising strategies, and supporting marketing, public relations, community engagement, and volunteer coordination activities.

Working alongside the CEO and senior staff, the Development Coordinator ensures that NSO's mission objectives are funded and understood throughout our community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Donor and Community Engagement:
  • In partnership with the CEO, identify, qualify, and solicit donors to NSO. 10% / with an emphasis on inviting people to Lunch and Learns, calling lapsed donors to invite them on a tour and to Lunch and Learns.
  • Using fundraising best practices, design, implement, and administer a moves management system to increase NSO's major donors and legacy gifts. 20% / in tandem with CEO
  • Arrange and execute various donor cultivation events including the monthly "Lunch and Learns."
  • Provide timely and engaging communication - written and verbal - for donors including messaging on organizational outcomes, ways to give and volunteer opportunities.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of solicitation materials including donor letters, CEO major gift materials and direct mail pieces.
    40% / critical factor of 5 (with 5 the highest)
  • Act as the project manager for annual Good Samaritan Lunch and fundraiser
  • Oversee the internal United Way campaign.
  • Participate in external United Way Rallies and small speaking engagements.
Stewardship:
  • Prepare all thank you letters for donors and event attendees.
  • Provide communication to donors on the results or impact of their gifts.
  • Provide various lists and reports to CEO, board members and volunteers for donor recognition and engagement.
  • Oversee all recognition mechanisms including annual donor lists for publications and reports.
Fundraising Operations:
  • Maintain and monitor the NSO fundraising database by updating information, entering gifts, pledges and reporting as necessary.
  • Provide agendas and materials to the CEO for the resource development committee and assist with materials for board meetings.
  • Maintain a fundraising calendar with results, solicitations, acknowledgment documents, grants, and other information pertinent to fundraising.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Have previously worked in a non-profit in a fundraising capacity for at least one year.
  • A valid driver's license and auto insurance at the required levels as outlined in the employee handbook and the ability to pass a distracted driving course.
  • Clearance of background check, motor vehicle report and drug screen.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Some experience in special event planning.
  • Knowledge of working with committees/volunteers.
  • A strategic thinker who excels at coming up with and executing original ideas.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, both internally and externally.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to perform multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and maintain a positive team approach strategy.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel, Internet Explorer, PowerPoint, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and other graphics and/or presentation software.
  • Experience with customer relationship management software, such as DonorPerfect.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • The majority of time spent in this position is in a well-lit, heated, and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
  • This job requires moderate physical activity performed in a primarily administrative nature.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Occasional periods of high stress.
  • Requires occasional after-hours and/or weekend hours in accordance with the needs of the agency and events.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee occasionally is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or control; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • The employee must occasionally lift, pull, or carry objects up to 20 pounds. Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate a computer keyboard. Work utilizes hearing and speech to converse clearly with clients and staff.
